Classroom Teams News

Foundation News:
The Prep students have recently started participating in PMP (Perceptual Motor Program) and have been having a fantastic time! PMP is a fun and engaging program where students rotate through a variety of movement-based activities designed to develop important skills such as balance, coordination, strength, and spatial awareness.
It has been wonderful to see the Preps enthusiastically participating and encouraging each other as they try new challenges. We are looking forward to many more fun PMP sessions throughout the term!
Grade 1:
Wow, what a busy Term 1 it has been! Our classroom has been full of learning, laughter, and lots of growing brains. This term, students have been learning about Changing Families and Communities, exploring how family life and school have changed over time by comparing their own experiences. In Literacy, students have been building their reading and writing skills by learning new phonics patterns, practising sentence writing, and creating recounts. In Maths, students have focused on counting and place value, developing their understanding of tens and ones, as well as building confidence in addition, subtraction, and interpreting simple data. Alongside this, students have strengthened their social and emotional skills through Respectful Relationships and wellbeing lessons, learning about emotions, friendships, kindness, and strategies to regulate their feelings.
It has been a fantastic and busy term of learning, and we are so proud of all the growth and effort the students have shown. Well done to everyone! 🎉To finish off the term, we celebrated Harmony Day, where students came dressed in their cultural outfits and proudly shared what makes them unique. It was a beautiful reminder that our differences are what make our classroom so special. A big thank you to the parents who visited on Monday. It was lovely having you join us! Here are some pictures of the day 😊
Grade 2:
What a fantastic few weeks we have had! In Literacy, students have been continuing to build their phonemic awareness knowledge and skills, breaking words down into syllables and phonemes, to assist with their spelling. We have enjoyed several book studies that have focused on nature, animals, birds, and the environment. This has also linked in with our Integrated Studies unit, where we have investigated different continents, countries, and more specifically, the states and territories of Australia. In Maths, students have continued working on counting and place value concepts, as well as building their confidence in telling analogue and digital time. We have just begun our new unit in addition and subtraction, where students are learning the bridging to 10 strategy to solve problems. Alongside this, students have strengthened their social and emotional skills through Respectful Relationships and wellbeing lessons, and have been practicing these skills in our weekly Year 2 sports program, through collaborative team games.
This week we celebrated Harmony Day! It was fantastic to see so many students in their orange and cultural attire, and to share traditional dishes! We mapped where all our families originate from and shared stories, traditions and special experiences with our classmates.
As a cohort, we are eagerly looking forward to our excursion to Moonlit Sanctuary next week, where we celebrate the term with an exciting expedition to discover Australian animals and wildlife.
We can't wait to continue our learning together next term!
Grade 3:
Well done to all our Grade 3 students on a great beginning to the year! This term we have successfully completed our first NAPLAN. In Literacy, our students have spent the term working on their narrative and persuasive writing skills, and have developed their ability to write paragraphs. In Numeracy, our students have been learning to multiply and divide numbers using a variety of strategies.
During our integrated unit this term we learnt about countries neighbouring Australia, culminating in students completing a poster presentation in order to share their knowledge and creativity. We have also been learning about teamwork and trying our best in Grade 3 sport and our cross country event. All our students should feel proud of all they have achieved in their first term in the senior school!
