WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING (1 of 2)

CSEN MUSIC

BY HANNAH DENNY (HEAD OF MUSIC)

Although they woke up tired Wednesday morning, the 81 students and 6 staff who attended CSEN Music for two full days of rehearsal and an evening performance immensely enjoyed the opportunity to rehearse and perform with over 400 students from 6 Christian Schools at the Belgrave Heights Convention Centre.

Participating in various ensembles - Junior choir, Senior choir, Intermediate concert band, Senior concert band or the Strings ensemble, allowed our students to get a glimpse of what playing in unity to glorify God looks, sounds and feels like.

A special shout out to Archie C and Flynn E who provided 45 minutes of beautiful cafe style music in the foyer during the art display before the auditorium doors opened.

The concert concluded with a final mass vocal item involving all students and staff.

The words remind us of our purpose - to glorify Him, acknowledging that He is marvellous. Because of his creational design, love and compassion, he invites us to use the vocal and instrumental skills he has given us.

Once again, I was very proud of our students; how they interacted with students from other schools, their diligence in rehearsals and respect of their conductors, and their willingness to adapt and assist at every opportunity.

Thank you to all the families that came to watch their children perform, having that support in the audience is a vital part of the rehearsal and performance process.

IGNITING OUR FAITH - TEND THE FIRE

BY SARAH JOHNSON (CHAPLAIN)

There is a beautiful stir happening within our school community, and it’s being led by the passion and dedication of our very own students.

Our Tend the Fire program—a student-led worship initiative held during Tuesday mornings and lunchtimes—is more than just a gathering; it is a space where faith is being nurtured and shared with authenticity.

On Friday 20 March, our Student Faith Leaders had the incredible opportunity to connect with the wider school community at Camberwell Grammar School, a student faith leaders breakfast organised by Mustard Victoria.

It was a joy to see them represent our school alongside over 100 other young leaders from schools across Victoria. The energy in the room was awesome as students shared their visions for ministry, prayed for eachother and encouraged one another. It is clear that the Lord is moving in their hearts and lives, andthey are bringing that same fire back to our school to serve His glory.

For those new to the program, Tend the Fire is a dedicated time for:

  • Student-Led Worship: Music and prayer organised entirely by our students, supported by Mr Grace and the Chaplaincy team.
  • Fellowship: Building a supportive community where everyone is welcome.
  • Spiritual Growth: Providing a quiet, intentional space amidst the busy school day to reflect and reconnect.
  • Seeing our students take ownership of their spiritual journey is inspiring.

Whether it’s a morning session to start the day with peace or a lunchtime gathering to recharge, these students are proving that leadership isn’t just about titles—it’s about service and heart. We are so proud of our leaders for their commitment to making a positive impact. We look forward to seeing how the "fire" they are tending continues to grow and warm our entire school community.
