Principal's Message

Mr Beilken

As Term 1 draws to a close, it is hard to believe how quickly the weeks have passed. Reflecting on the term, I have been continually impressed by the quality of learning taking place in classrooms each day and the positive engagement of our students. It has been particularly pleasing to see students demonstrating resilience, collaboration, and a willingness to challenge themselves in their learning across all year levels.

There have been many highlights, including our successful Harmony Day celebration and community picnic, which provided a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate the diversity that makes our school so special. Our Year 6 students also represented the school with pride during their day camp and their “Have a Try” day at Girrawheen Senior High School, embracing new experiences and building their confidence as they prepare for the transition to secondary school.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our staff for their ongoing dedication and commitment to providing high-quality learning experiences for all students, as well as our families for their continued support throughout the term. The strong partnership between home and school plays a vital role in ensuring the success of our students.

As we head into the final days of the term, we look forward to finishing strongly and celebrating the achievements of our students. I wish all families a safe and enjoyable break and look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 2.

School Closure Dates for Reporting

Earlier this year, in our first M Chat for 2026, I informed the school community of the intention to schedule school closure days on Friday 12 June (Term 2, Week 8) and Friday 4 December (Term 4, Week 8). I can now confirm that this proposal was discussed at the Term 1 School Board meeting and has been formally approved. As a result, the school will be closed to students on these dates, and families will need to make alternative care arrangements.

As previously mentioned, we are working in partnership with Kids Academy to explore the possibility of providing care on these days. A survey was included in our first newsletter; however, we received only four responses, with one family indicating interest in using the service. To better determine the viability of offering care, a new survey is attached to this newsletter. If you would like your child to attend Kids Academy on either of the school closure days, please complete the survey by Friday 17 April. Your response will assist us in working with Kids Academy to make an informed decision about whether this service can be offered.

Further information regarding the process for booking reporting meetings with your child’s classroom teacher will be shared early next term.

P & C

On Monday 23 April, the P&C held their Annual General Meeting, where all positions were declared vacant and nominations were called. I am pleased to announce that Mardia Te Tai was elected as President, Dominique Smith as Vice President, and Hollie Roberts as Secretary. Sarah Graff and Amy Kinnersly were also elected to the executive team.

Unfortunately, there were no nominations for the Treasurer position, which remains vacant. If you are interested in volunteering your time to support the school community in this important role, please feel free to speak with either Mardia or myself.

I look forward to working closely with the P&C throughout 2026 and thank all members for their ongoing support of our school.

Uniform

As we move into the colder mornings, I have noticed an increasing number of students not wearing either the school jumper or an appropriate blue alternative. As we approach Term 2, staff at Marangaroo will be more closely monitoring adherence to the school uniform policy.

A copy of the policy is attached to this newsletter for your reference. We appreciate your support in ensuring that students come to school dressed in the correct uniform each day, as this helps to promote a sense of pride and belonging within our school community.

Easter Hat Parade

This morning, we held our annual Easter Hat Parade, and it was wonderful to see the creativity and effort that students put into their hats. There were many fantastic designs on display, making it a very enjoyable event for all involved. I would like to sincerely thank our parents and caregivers for their support in helping students prepare for the parade.

I would also like to acknowledge the support of the P&C, along with Daniel Pastorelli (MLA), who generously provided the six prizes awarded this morning. Events such as these are a great way to bring our school community together, and we appreciate the continued support in making them so successful.

Staff Carpark – Student Drop Off and Collection

I would like to remind families about the importance of following our school’s drop-off and pick-up procedures. Recently, there has been an increase in parents and caregivers using the staff carpark during these busy times.

For safety reasons, the staff carpark is not to be used for student drop-off or collection. This area is frequently accessed by staff vehicles and delivery services, and additional traffic significantly increases the risk for both adults and children.

As we move into Term 2, the gate to the staff carpark will be closed at 8.30am and re-opened at 3.30pm. When dropping off or collecting your child/ren, please ensure you are using the following designated areas:

  • The horseshoe
  • The Golf Course carpark
  • Street parking available on Addington Way
