Harmony Week

Celebrating the rich diversity of our staff and students at St Helena's is truly something beautiful for God. As part of our Harmony Week celebrations several of our staff member shared their cultures.
Mrs Mireku shared the vibrant culture of her home country, Ghana, with our students. Her sessions included traditional dancing, drumming, and games.
Mrs Jogger shared some vibrant dace moves from her home country of India, and with the help of our enthusiastic Year Six leaders, students explored how these dances express joy and celebration.
Mrs Thompson generously shared her family's culture with our students as part of our celebrations. Students were introduced to Noongar language and worked together to make traditional damper. While their damper, they explored a range of items that hold deep cultural significance for First Nations peoples. These hands-on experiences helped our students appreciate the richness, diversity, and resilience of the oldest continuous culture in the world.
Mrs Sampathkumar shared the beautiful tradition of Rangoli artwork with our Upper Primary students. Rangoli originates from her birth country of India and involves colouring sand and using it to create intricate patterns, designs, and images.
Mrs Mac taught our students how to make Nasi Goreng! Sharing a special dish from her country of Indonesia, she gave our students a delicious hands-on experience. They had an amazing time learning, cooking, and eating together.
On Friday buddy activities took place across the school, giving our older students the chance to guide and support the younger students who look up to their buddies with such admiration. It was a wonderful reminder that, no matter our differences, we all belong at St Helena's.
