Selamat siang,

It’s been another busy and exciting week in the Leadership Centre!

On Monday, we enjoyed watching our talented speakers take part in the MPRPS Public Speaking Competition. Congratulations to all our 5/6 participants (Chris, Aira, Johanna, Xavier and Olive) for their confidence and effort, and a special well done to Johanna, who will be representing MPRPS at the Interschool Competition at Rangeview PS in the coming weeks. In Writing, students have begun planning and drafting their own fables, using templates to help structure their ideas and develop clear morals for their stories. The 5/6 students have also been focusing on collaboration during our reading lessons, which are based on The Silver Donkey by Sonya Hartnett. This week, students practised creating questions about the chapters we read using higher-order thinking question stems, then used these to guide collaborative discussions about the text. Discussing the book we read is really important because it helps students develop deeper comprehension, explore different perspectives, and learn to respectfully share and build on each other’s ideas.

In Mathematics, we’ve been exploring patterns and algebra, focusing on solving problems by creating equations that meet specific criteria. This is a great opportunity for students to stretch their reasoning and logic skills. In Guided Inquiry, students have formed their teams for our Earn and Learn unit and have begun developing their business ideas. Over the coming weeks, they’ll write business plans, design products or services, and prepare for our exciting marketplace event at the end of term. Our Year 6 students have been busy rehearsing for Graduation, while Year 5 students have been working hard on creating the Year 6 graduation portraits - a much-loved tradition!

Reminders

  • Keep an eye out for the Compass event going out soon for the 3/4/5 End of Year Celebration - Movie Excursion.
  • HATS ARE BACK! Please ensure your child has a hat and leaves it in their tub at school! Thanks for your co-operation with this!
  • Our library is open! Please ensure your child has their library book and bag on their day.
  • Please remember to bring your Pleasant day out raffle tickets in!!
  • The weather is picking up, and it would be great to have all students bring a drink bottle to school!

Attention Year 6 Families - Baby Photos for Graduation

We are looking forward to celebrating Year 6 Graduation at the end of the year, with preparations already underway!

One of our beloved traditions is sharing three baby photos from between the ages of 0-5 as part of the presentation. We are asking if you could please email gradesixgraduation@gmail.com with these three photos by November 30th. We usually recommend one baby photo, one as a toddler and one around kinder age but any family favourites will be great! Also, if your child attended another school prior to MPRPS and you have their school photo, it would also be much appreciated if you could send those though.

We will send reminder emails over the coming weeks but we like to get an early start as it takes a while to collate everything! Thank you so much for your support.
