Principal's Message

Term 4-week 5

Tuesday 11 November 2025 is Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day marks the date in 1918 when World War I came to an end. It is officially observed at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. This is a day for us to remember those who have served, suffered or died in all wars and peacekeeping operations. Our student leaders led the annual observance also acknowledges the service of Australian Defence Force members on active deployment.

School Wide Public Speaking Competition

This week, we held our school wide Public Speaking Competition. Here at MPRPS, we have always held public speaking in high regard, and this was definitely on display today. Students selected to represent their classes showed incredible enthusiasm and skill as they addressed their peers, parents, and teachers.

Congratulations to Mina, Oscar V, Anouk, and Johanna on their well-deserved wins, as they competed against some very talented speakers from across the school. These students will go on to represent MPRPS at an inter-school speaking competition in a few weeks’ time.

A big thank you to the many parents who attended and to our wonderful student audiences for their support and encouragement.

LOTE program from 2026

After extensive community and School Council consultation, we are excited to announce that from 2026 our school will be introducing Mandarin Chinese as our new language program. This change reflects our commitment to equipping students with skills for a global future. Mandarin is the most widely spoken language in the world and offers valuable opportunities for communication, cultural understanding, and future career pathways. It also aligns with national and state curriculum priorities that emphasise the importance of learning Asian languages. Through studying Mandarin, students will gain insights into one of the world’s oldest and most influential cultures while developing valuable cognitive and intercultural skills. We thank our community for their input and support in shaping this important decision and look forward to beginning this exciting new chapter in 2026.

Grade 1 Late Stay and Grade  2 Sleepover

Our Grade 1 students participated in a Late Stay at school, while Grade 2 enjoyed an sleepover in the hall! Everyone shared a delicious pizza dinner before Grade 2 students snuggled down in the hall for the night. In the morning, they enjoyed a tasty breakfast of fruit and croissants. It was a wonderful time filled friendship and fun memories!

A big thank you to the staff who stayed the night and helped make the event such a success, and to our students who were so calm and well behaved, and let the teachers get 'some' sleep!

Intergenerational Program

This week, we concluded our trial of The Intergenerational Program with the Budja group. The program brings our children together with senior members of the community to build fun and meaningful relationships. It provides valuable opportunities for different generations to share experiences, knowledge, and skills in ways that are mutually beneficial.

Research shows that these kinds of interactions have wonderful benefits for both generations. Children develop a deeper understanding of their community and a stronger sense of connection to the past, while older participants often experience increased positivity and improvements in overall wellbeing.
