Years 4 & 6

Over the past two weeks I have been really impressed with the unity and teamwork of our year 4 & 6's. When given the opportunity to work collaboratively, the class have been sharing ideas and supporting each others learning. It is great to hear and see.

Literacy

We continue to be emersed in our class novel - The Grandest Bookshop in the World and as you can see the students have found even more interesting vocabto add to our class list. We have also been exploring how to use sensory language in our writing to enhance descriptions and slow down and enrich the scene.

Maths

Since our last newsletter, we have been exploring the topic of Algebra. The year 6's have been working together to recognise and use rules that generate visually growing patterns and number patterns. The year 4's have also been developing their algebraic understanding by investigating number patterns by creating growing patterns using the pattern blocks as well as finding unknown values in equations. There may have been some squirming along the way when things became challenging but once again, teamwork was the key to getting through.

Joke of The Week will be back in the next newsletter. Until then here's a riddle to solve -

You see me once in June, twice in November, but not at all in May. What am I?

(Year 4 & 6 students should be able to assist you with the answer)

Have a great weekend.
