Years F & 1

The foundation students have continued learning common digraphs. They are becoming more confident with reading and writing longer words which is exciting to watch. 

We have been exploring nursery rhymes this term and have mainly read ones where the rhyming word is at the end of the sentence. Students have been given a sentence starter from one of the nursery rhymes and they have had to finish it with a word that rhymed. On Thursday we read a tautogram poem where all words started with the same letter. We had a look at exploring some tongue twisters and then students had a go at writing their own. They were quite creative and just needed a couple of prompts to stay on the same sound. 

We were very lucky on Tuesday to have the 2/3s visit and share their writing on iron. The F/1s listened nicely to each of them share their book full of information on iron. They even learnt some new information too.
