Mr Ray Hickey
Congratulations to the newly confirmed members of St Michael’s Parish community.
Bishop Les Tomlinson presided over the Sacrament of Confirmation Mass on Wednesday 29th October and was assisted by Fr Darien and Deacon Malcolm.
It was wonderful to see the church filled to capacity with the newly confirmed, their sponsors, family members, friends, school staff and parishioners.
Thank you to the Year Six students who volunteered to proclaim the First and Second Readings as well as those who read the Prayers of the Faithful and brought the bread and wine to the altar.
Thank you to Therese Molnar for liaising between the parish organist and singers as well as making time to practice with our Year Six soloists who led the singing for the Responsorial Psalm.
Thank you to the amazing staff at St Michael’s school who assisted in preparing the students for their final Sacrament of Initiation.
Our newly confirmed will now be able to show how they are filled with the Holy Spirit through their words and actions.

This year, the Catholic Church is holding a Jubilee Year. The theme for this year’s jubilee is Pilgrims of Hope. A pilgrim is a person who is on a journey or pilgrimage for personal and spiritual growth. A pilgrimage is a spiritual journey to a holy place to honour God, give thanks, seek forgiveness and to share your hopes and dreams.
During Jubilee Years, we are encouraged to attend a holy place, one of the holy places listed for the Archdiocese of Melbourne is St Patrick’s Cathedral, which is our mother church in East Melbourne.
On Friday the 14th November, the St Michael’s School community will travel by train to visit and attend the 1.00 pm weekday Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral.
Details regarding this event will be shared with school families via Operoo.

All Saints' Day (November 1) is a day to celebrate all the saints, who are people who lived holy lives and are now in heaven.
Saints are people who are believed to be in heaven with God. It's a day to celebrate all of them, the famous ones and the ones we might not know about.
All Souls' Day (November 2) is a day to remember and pray for all people who have died, especially our family and friends.
In many cultures, the month of November is dedicated to remembering those who have died. Families often make a special effort to attend the graves of loved ones who have passed away. Special prayers are said and Masses are offered up to remember those who have died.
Even though they are gone, we are still connected to them through love and prayer.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Pope Leo XIV has asked the world to pray for the prevention of suicide in our world.
Please try to find some quiet time in your busy day to pray Pope Leo's Prayer Intention for the month of November. Thank you.
For the prevention of suicide

Let us pray that those who are struggling with suicidal thoughts might find the support, care, and love they need in their community, and be open to the beauty of life.
Amen
