Clever Kids

Kindergarten:
KJ
This term had already been very busy!
We are continuing to refine our performance for the production. We had a visiting science show from Questacon. We have been learning about the properties of 3-D objects and working on forces and how objects move in science, so this show was very relevant to our learning. The Gamarada students went on an excursion to the Botanical Gardens at Mt Annan and learnt lots!
KJ are looking forward to the rest of the year, with so many exciting events coming up before Christmas.

Stage 1:
1/2B
1/2M
We can’t believe we are already half way through Term 4! We have continued to do some amazing learning, despite the end of the year fast approaching. In Geography, we learned about the different activities you can do in places and even got a special tour of Mr Harris’ lego collection! In Science, we experimented with different push and pull forces to see how far we could make a toy car go. In writing, we developed reasons and evidence to persuade teachers to choose our individual ideas for the Level 0 Reward Day. In Maths, we used positional language clues to help our partner guess a secret number. We have continued to practise our item for the School Production and are looking forward to showing our families. Only a couple of weeks to go, but we know we have lots of exciting things ahead!
1/2M
Stage 2:
2/3A
What’s Happening in 2/3A!
Chloe: In maths, we have been learning about capacity. For sport, we have been doing the beep test. In the library, we've been learning about geography and history.
Hendrix: In writing, we started a new book called ‘The Callers’.
Kaiden: Lunch and recess is the best because you can talk to your friends.
Zack: I like doing writing because you can write about Callers who are from our book.
Zol: In science, we have been learning about how boats move in the water.
Kendall: Miss McIntosh is doing our reports and we have been doing lots of Essential Assessments on the Chromebooks.
Connor: Miss McIntosh is teaching us lots of things about maths, writing, science, art and craft and putting water into things. We are learning about capacity in maths.
Edith: In health, we are learning about who we can go to if you are in danger or are very hurt. In writing, we have started a new book called ‘The Callers’ and sometimes we do worksheets.
Sylvia: In music, we have been learning the song for our production. Another subject I like to learn about is geography which we do in the library.
Braelynn: I like maths and writing, especially art and craft because you get to make stuff and draw. Also, drawing is fun because we can draw whatever we want. Capacity is fun because we get to see how much one litre is.
Abby: At the end of the school term we are going to the movies to see Zootopia 2.
Zahra: I like soccer because it can be funny when someone is at the other size of the field and kicks it all the way to the goal.
Malachi: I like Woodland Road because we have amazing teachers.
Niamh: Miss McIntosh is still the best teacher and also we’ve been learning about capacity.
Oprah: Mrs Wasson’s playground is the best.
Mikaere: We have been learning a lot about plants and the Earth in the library.

Lachlan: My favourite subject in school is science.
Edward: I like school because it has library lessons.
Josaia: I like sports like soccer.
3/4M
What’s been happening in 3/4M?
It has been a very busy start to the final term of 2025! We have dedicated considerable time to preparing for our upcoming production performance later this term, and we eagerly look forward to sharing it with you.
In English, we recently completed reading a poetry collection titled Bindi, which we found highly engaging as we learnt about animals, nature and country. Staying on the theme of animals, the wonderful Mrs. Wasson kindly brought in horse hoof-cleaning tools and even gave the students the opportunity to sniff a hoof clipping (the accompanying pictures capture the experience perfectly).
In mathematics, we have been exploring three-dimensional objects, as well as concepts of volume and capacity. The lessons have been both educational and thoroughly enjoyable.
We are very excited about the many upcoming events this term, including the production, reward day, picnic day, and other end-of-year celebrations. There is much to look forward to!
4LH
This year has been the best year in Year 4! We are lucky to have such great teachers: Mrs Loveday and Miss Hammond. In our classroom for writing, we have been reading The Callers. My class is always hooked and curious about what will happen next. The author makes the story so interesting!
Production practices are going really well. It might feel a little bit funny at first, but once we get the hang of it, we are going to be so good when we perform.
This term, we had the chance to learn with amazing people from Questacon. They taught us all about forces, like push and pull. We got to do awesome activities in Stage 2 in the hall, and it was an hour packed with fun! Plus, the best part was that it was free!
In our class, we have been working super hard to earn our pen licences. It takes a lot of effort and dedication, and everyone is giving it their best.
For maths, we started learning about angles. There are so many different types: acute, obtuse, reflex, straight, right, revolution angles and more!
Teachers’ Day is a special time at our school when we celebrate our amazing teachers, even giving them special awards.
Last term at the end-of-term assembly, we got to play “Guess the Teacher When They Were Younger.” We could even try to guess them on the school website. Two people got it right in the assembly, and there was a prize draw!
The SRC did a great job organising Level Zero Reward Day. They chose something fun and different, a hunt for gold and silver medals! At the end, we had a lollypop and watched a movie. It was such a great choice, and everyone is still wondering what this term’s reward will be.
Our school garden is such a lovely place. My class planted tomatoes and cucumbers. Sadly, the cucumbers didn’t last because some cheeky cockatoos and birds got to them!
- Ayah Kanj
This term, some workers from Questacon came to our school for an incursion. They taught us about forces and how you can use things like a ladder or a plane to reach the top of a building or a skyscraper. They also explained that if you wanted to make a truck fly, all you would need is a rope, a plane, and to tie the rope to the truck. Our production/practices are a great way to learn new skills in performance. It might feel a bit funny at first, but you will get the hang of it.
For writing, we are learning about the book The Callers, and everyone is excited to see what happens next. On World Teacher’s Day, we celebrated the teachers who have been working hard to help us students.

Stage 3
Term Highlights:
Our class has had an exciting and enriching term filled with a variety of engaging activities and learning experiences.
Questacon Incursion: We were thrilled to participate in the Questacon Incursion, where students explored interactive science exhibits and experiments designed to spark curiosity and develop their understanding of scientific concepts. The hands-on activities encouraged critical thinking, teamwork, and a love of discovery.
Public Speaking Competition: Many students took part in the Public Speaking Competition, demonstrating incredible courage and confidence. Each participant prepared and delivered speeches on topics they were passionate about, honing their communication skills and the ability to engage an audience. We were proud of the effort and enthusiasm shown by all.
World Teachers’ Day Celebration: To honour World Teachers’ Day, our class organised a special celebration to recognise the hard work and dedication of our teachers. Students created cards, performed a song, and shared messages of gratitude, fostering a strong sense of community and appreciation.
‘Swinging Summertime’ Musical Production Practice: Our budding performers have been rehearsing enthusiastically for the upcoming musical production, ‘Swinging Summertime.’ Practices have involved learning songs, choreography, and acting scenes, developing confidence, creativity, and teamwork skills. We look forward to showcasing the students’ talents in the final performance.
Extra High School Transition Days: Year 6 students participated in Extra High School Transition Days, providing opportunities to visit various high schools, experience lessons, and gain insights into what secondary school life will be like. These days help ease anxiety and build readiness for the important transition ahead.
Buddy Lesson Preparation for Year 6: Year 6 students have been preparing special buddy lessons designed to mentor and support younger peers. These lessons focus on building positive relationships, collaboration, and leadership, encouraging Year 6 students to develop important social skills while helping their buddies grow.
Genius Hour Presentations from Year 5: Year 5 students have amazed us with their Genius Hour presentations, where they pursued personal interests or challenges over several weeks. This project fostered creativity, independent learning, and problem-solving as students researched, designed, and shared their innovative ideas with the class.
Overall, it has been a vibrant and busy term so far, filled with learning, creativity, and community spirit!
K-6 Koalas
K-6 Koalas went on an excursion in Week 2 to the new Campbelltown Library and Woodbine McDonald’s! Students had the opportunity to explore both levels of the library, seeing how the public used each floor differently, with the top floor being heavily study and meeting focused. The ground floor had a wonderful array of junior fiction and non-fiction books, with colouring tables and explorative play options. We then enjoyed lunch and play at McDonald’s; climbing, sliding, running and screaming. It was a great day out!
