Sports Day 2025

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our entire school community for making Sports Day 2025 such a joyful and memorable event.

To our dedicated staff, thank you for the planning, organisation, and teamwork that brought the day together. A special thank you goes to Miss Bartlett, whose expertise and preparation ensured our children were ready to shine on the big day. To our teachers and staff who supported throughout the day, your encouragement and care made all the difference.

To our families, thank you for coming along to cheer, to share in the community spirit, and for the many hands that made light work of volunteering. From the sausage sizzle to the pack-up crew, your generosity and willingness to help was greatly appreciated.

And to our wonderful children- you were the heart of the day. Each of you put your brave in front, showed kindness, and determination. You supported one another, tried your best, and filled the day with enthusiasm and fun. We hope you feel proud of your efforts.

The sunshine certainly helped, but it was the people, our staff, families, and children that made Sports Day such a huge success.

Congratulations to the Nantu Community, for taking out first place in Sports Day 2025!

Social Media Minimum Age

Our recent changes to our iPad program at St Paul, including the devices staying at school, was a great step in supporting families with screen and social media use. Now, families have even greater support.

The Australian Government passed a new law called the Online Safety Amendment (Social Media Minimum Age) Act 2024. This law “bans” under-16s from holding some social media accounts from 10 December, 2025. The government fact sheet can be read on the governments Social Media Minimum Age Fact Sheet: As with all laws, they need to be detailed, which can make it confusing, and hopefully the information below with help.

The laws enable families to be clear with children the social media is not appropriate for them below the age of 16. My sincere hope is that this will support families who can be swayed by the power of ‘but everybody else is allowed to have it’.

Some quick facts from the eSafety Commissioner’s Office:

  • The age restrictions are likely to apply to Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, X and YouTube, as well as other platforms. See the latest list
  • Under-16s will still be able to see publicly available social media content that doesn’t require logging into an account.
  • Most standalone gaming and messaging apps, as well as many services that support health and education, will not be affected by the new law.
  • There are no penalties for under-16s who access an account on an age-restricted social media platform, or for their parents or carers. This is about making the platforms take greater responsibility for the safety of children – they face fines of up to $49.5 million dollars if they don’t take reasonable steps to implement the changes.
