THE HOLY ROSARY

Gallery Image

On Monday, our whole school gathered in the church to pray the Rosary together in honour of October, the month traditionally dedicated to the Rosary. It was a beautiful expression of faith and community, with families and parishioners joining us in prayer.

Each decade of the Joyful Mysteries was thoughtfully led by a different year level, allowing all students to take part in this special devotion. The children showed great reverence and understanding as they reflected on the life of Jesus and Mary through prayer.

Although October is the month we give special focus to the Rosary, this prayer can be prayed at any time throughout the year. It is a powerful way for families and individuals to draw closer to God, to seek Mary’s intercession, and to reflect on the great love of Jesus.

Thank you once again to the many families and parishioners who donated rosary beads for the occasion.

SECOND HAND UNIFORM SALE

A big thankyou to families who supported our second hand uniform sale on Tuesday afternoon.  Thanks especially to Miss Douglas who jumped in to assist in my absence, Jill Ireton who sorts through all donated goods and the Year 6 Social Justice Group and friends who helped with sales on the day.

ALL SAINTS' DAY AND ALL SOULS' DAY

In the Catholic tradition, November is a special month of remembrance for those who have died. It begins with the Solemnity of All Saints on the 1st of November, followed by All Souls’ Day on the 2nd of November.

All Saints’ Day is a time to honour all the saints in heaven — those known and unknown — and to reflect on how we can follow their example of faith and goodness. This tradition began in the early Church, when communities gathered to celebrate the lives of holy men and women who had given their lives for Christ. The evening before All Saints’ Day became known as “All Hallows’ Eve” or “Halloween.”

The next day, All Souls’ Day, is dedicated to praying for all the faithful departed — our loved ones and all souls who have died. On this day, Catholics remember them in prayer and at Mass, asking God to welcome them into His loving presence in heaven.

Throughout November, the Church invites us to keep the memory of the dead alive in our hearts and to pray for them with love and hope.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
