Year 8 Camp
Thank you to parents/caregivers for supporting students to attend the Tangalooma Camp in December. The final camp payment of $200 is due Monday 1st December.
Students may use their ‘stamp stash’ for a voucher towards camp payments. To do this they must email the stamp stash store (details posted outside Mr Nielsen’s office), or just pop in to see Mr Nielsen at his office in B block. One thousand points equals a $10 voucher.
The purpose of this camp is to develop positive relationships amongst the Year 8 students, extend their ability to work within groups and with other students, and to support them in their future role as junior school leaders in 2026.
Students are very excited about the upcoming camp. Planned activities include a desert safari and sand tobogganing, snorkelling, stand-up paddle boarding, sea kayaking, dolphin feeding, fishing, eco presentations, tree planting and hiking.
A fishing permission note was provided for students planning to throw in a line with Ms Lynch and Mr Harris. Last year students were up early for morning fishing on the beach before breakfast.
A packing list was handed out to students this week and is also attached to the newsletter for your reference.

Billy G’s Cookie Dough Fundraiser
Thank you to students, families and the community for your support with the final Year 8 fundraising activity for the year. We raised $300 towards the total cost of the Year 8 Camp. A number of students have mentioned how delicious the cookies are.
Congratulations to Ashlee Hillman who was the highest tub seller! She receives a bonus prize – a surprise show bag valued at $100 as well as going into a draw to win a PlayStation 5 Gaming Bundle.
Year 6-7 Transition Days
Year 6 students are attending the high school next week as part of their Transition to High School program. The transition program provides an opportunity for students to experience timetabled lessons for English, Maths, Science, HPE, Humanities, Art, and Home Ec. with the teachers of those subjects. This is a change from Primary School routines, where students have their classroom teacher for most subjects and with everything set up for them in one place. Being able to experience what a typical day at high school is like often helps with anxiety and concerns many Year 6 students have prior to commencing Year 7.
To ensure a smooth transition from primary to secondary school, students will be further supported during the settling-in week program in 2026. A number of personal development and co-operative activities at school, as well as an excursion to The Spit at Lake Somerset are planned to build positive relationships amongst the students.
Students will have multiple opportunities to learn about themselves and others so that they can ‘Work Together’ respectfully. Information and permission letters about settling-in week will be sent home with the primary students next week. The program outline is provided below:
