The Last Bear

There are no polar bears left on Bear Island. At least, that’s what April’s father tells her when his scientific research takes them to this remote Arctic outpost for six months. But one endless summer night, April meets one. He is starving, lonely and a long way from home. Determined to save him, April begins the most important journey of her life …

This moving story will win the hearts of children the world over and show them that no one is too young or insignificant to make a difference. The Last Bear is a celebration of the love between a child and an animal, a battle cry for our world and an irresistible adventure with a heart as big as a bear’s.

Integrated Studies

Bizarre Bazaar - Thinking creatively assists us when we are planning, designing and constructing.

Students will gain a real-life understanding of the design and production process and the different resources and sales tactics used to create and market products. They will brainstorm an idea for a product and conduct market research to refine it. Students will work in groups to prototype and produce their product using craft and recyclable materials. Their products will be sold at a school community market called 'Bizarre Bazaar,' and proceeds from the market will be directed to a charity selected by the class.

This term students will be learning about designing, production and marking of a product that they will make and then sell at our end of term Bizarre Bazaar Market.

Over the past 2 weeks, students have learnt about different advertising strategies that big companies use to sell their products. Companies like McDonalds and Myer use ads in particular busy times like Christmas and AFL season to market new products.
