Principal's Report

NEWSLETTER REPORT – TERM 4, WEEK 7
Schools are wonderfully busy places, and ours is no exception! There is always plenty happening as we continue working to provide the best possible experiences for our students. Here’s a snapshot of what’s been going on across the school.
Important Reminders
No electric scooters or electric bikes are permitted at school. Recently, a group of boys caused damage inside our hall while riding an electric scooter. This incident has been reported to the police. We ask for your support in ensuring these items are not brought onto school grounds.
Please do not park in the Kings Swim Centre car park unless you are attending your swimming lesson at that time. This area becomes unsafe and overcrowded when used as general parking. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe environment for everyone.
Year 3 Camp
What an adventure! We are incredibly grateful to our staff for giving up their personal time to make this memorable experience possible. Thank you also to the parents who attended and supported the camp. Overnight stays in new environments can be challenging, and our students did a wonderful job.
Foundation Transition
Despite the rain, our transition sessions ran smoothly. We moved into the hall as students were still outside, which felt a little overwhelming for some of our new Foundations—but they did beautifully. Families attended an information session about our Wellbeing Team and our THRIVE program, and the uniform sale was very popular. Most importantly, we managed to avoid the worst of the weather!
Remembrance Service
We held a thoughtful Remembrance service to honour those who have served. It was heartening to see the respect shown by so many students. A huge thank you to our School Captains and SRC Captains for their leadership and organisation.
Junior Sports
Junior Sports Day was held during school time under perfect weather. Our students were settled, enthusiastic and had a fantastic morning. Thank you to the families who came along to cheer them on. The event also ran smoothly alongside normal learning for Years 3–6, who will enjoy their Sports Day at Ballam Park in Term 1.
2026 Student Leadership and Awards
We are currently finalising the processes for selecting our 2026 student leaders, Year 6 graduation awards and Year 5 Playleaders. Teachers have also been discussing the recipients of this year’s 100% Attendance Awards. It’s an exciting time across the school as we prepare to recognise student achievement and leadership.
2026 Classes and Transition
Our 2026 class lists—including teachers and rooms—will be ready for UP Day. Staff have put a great deal of thought and work into these groupings, and they are shaping up beautifully.
We encourage you to speak positively with your child about moving to the next year level. Our Attitudes to School Survey shows a 92% satisfaction rate for transitions—so please feel confident in the process. A little challenge helps children grow, and we will always provide the support they need.
Students with additional needs will be visiting their 2026 classrooms or meeting their teachers, often without even realising that’s what’s happening.
Swim to School Day – Monday 2 December
In partnership with Kings Swimming, we are promoting water safety through Swim to School Day. Students are encouraged to come dressed in bright colours with towels, floaties, swim rings and fun accessories. Please note: no bathers and sensible shoes are required. Free dress is fine, or accessories can be worn over school uniform. More details will follow soon.
Grounds and Facilities Update
Work will soon begin on redeveloping our Flagpole area to give this space the prominence it deserves. A new electronic sliding door is also being installed at the front office to improve safety and accessibility.
Digital Devices in 2026 and Beyond
You may have seen recent media reports about Department changes coming in 2027 regarding device use. More details will be provided next year, but for now, nothing changes for 2026. Students with BYOD devices can continue using them as normal, and shared computers will remain available in classrooms.
PFC News and Community Involvement
Our recent PFC AGM did not receive any nominations for the President role. The PFC has played a significant part in fostering community connection through Mother’s and Father’s Day stalls, the school disco, and the Colour Event.
If we cannot secure enough volunteers, the club may need to be dissolved. In past years, the PFC has raised funds for many of our fantastic playgrounds—proof that many hands make light work. If you can help in any capacity, please contact us at:Langwarrin.park.ps@education.vic.gov.au
Stay Connected
This is an extremely busy time of year, so please keep an eye on upcoming dates. Many events have deadlines to allow us to plan safely and efficiently. Thank you for staying organised and ensuring your child doesn’t miss out.
Kind regards,
Deb Haddow
Principal
We know life is busy, but there’s real power in community. We’re calling on our local legends to help with a few small projects — things we’d rather not outsource if we can keep it in the neighbourhood!
We’re currently looking for:
A licensed gas plumber for compliance checks
Carpenters for a fencing project
An air conditioning mechanic (for holiday servicing)
A landscaper for garden planning
Green thumbs for light weeding and pruning
Even an hour of your time makes a big difference. If you’re able to help or want more info, please contact the front office — Bluey, our Facilities Manager, will be in touch.
Let’s keep building a strong, connected community — together!
