Y10-12 Engagement

As the academic year draws to a close, our Year 10 to 12 students are entering one of the most significant and demanding phases of their schooling, their final classes and exam preparation. This period is not only about study but also about maintaining structure, balance, and wellbeing.
Attending every scheduled class in the lead-up to exams is essential. These final weeks offer valuable opportunities for revision, teacher feedback, and practice in exam-style settings. Teachers design these sessions to consolidate knowledge, clarify key concepts, and strengthen students' confidence. Even a few missed lessons can mean missing critical explanations or assessment feedback that could make a real difference in final results.
At St John's, we emphasise that consistent attendance supports academic progress and personal growth. Research shows a clear link between attendance, engagement, and achievement, and this connection becomes even more important in the senior years.
At the same time, success is not achieved solely through study. Students are encouraged to plan realistic study schedules that allow time for rest, exercise, and social connection. Good nutrition, sleep, and breaks are not distractions; they’re part of effective preparation. Balancing study and wellbeing helps students approach exams with energy, focus, and resilience.
Parents and carers can play a vital role by supporting routines at home, helping manage stress, and ensuring students attend every day until their final assessment. Together, we can ensure that all students finish the year with confidence, strong attendance, and a sense of pride in their effort.
Good luck and all the best in your exams.
