The Friends of Rooks and Dagola Reserves

This weekend, October 24–27, join the Great Southern BioBlitz to discover and record our incredible local biodiversity. Citizen Scientists across the Southern Hemisphere will be photographing and recording the sounds of their local biodiversity, and you can get involved too. It’s a fun family activity, and a great way to learn about the nature in your neighbourhood. Upload your finds to iNaturalist and help showcase our local ecosystems to the world! It’s a perfect outdoor learning adventure!

The Friends of Rooks and Dagola Reserves group need your help to better understand the plants, animals and fungi that live in and visit the Reserves. They have created a Project on iNaturalist and you are invited to join. If you enjoy participating in the Great Southern BioBlitz, why not upload more observations to iNaturalist each time you visit the Reserves.

The Friends’ group needs lots of observations at different times of year to understand how we can support the plants and animals that call the Reserves home.

How to get involved Before you visit the reserves (Getting Ready)

● download the free iNaturalist App to your smartphone or tablet ○ Google Play / App Store

● Set up an account.

● Watch this video about how to create an ‘observation’ on iNaturalist

● select the genus or species from the selection offered

● Choose ‘Projects’ and select Friends of Rooks and Dagola Reserves

● Answer the questions by clicking on the question, then making a selection, or typing a short response.
