Coding Competition

Over the past three months, 36 students from our Year 5/6 participated in the Australian STEM Video Game Competition. This ambitious project involved creating games on Scratch that adhered to the theme of "Stars."

Divided into teams of four, students took on specific roles such as Artist, Coder, Musician, and Story Writer. Through this collaborative process, they not only learned new skills but also developed engaging games and comprehensive design documents.

A key requirement of the competition was the completion of a Games Design Document (GDD) detailing the game's mechanics and creation process. Our students demonstrated exceptional resilience, persevering through challenges to bring their visions to life.

We are thrilled to announce that all of our participating teams advanced to the second round of the competition. While we fell short of the top five, we are incredibly proud of our students' accomplishments.

Two teams in particular excelled, with Jay, Marcus, Akira, and Tahan achieving a remarkable score of 86/93, and Harry, Utkarsh, Jonathan, and Mandela scoring 85/93. These are the highest scores our school has ever attained in the three years of competing in this competition.

Congratulations to all the students who participated in the competition this year.
