Student Voice &

Positive Environment

Our Student Representative Council has continued their work this term in ensuring that the voice of all students is heard. They have not only been meeting regularly as a group, but also with class captains to ensure they are hearing the ideas and opinions of their peers.

Our meeting held on October 14th was used as a time to meet with the house captains and have a collaboration as to what each group of leaders has been working on this year, and a way to thank our year 12's as this was their final meeting for the year before they finished. It was amazing to see the growth of each student as an individual but also how they complemented the group they worked with.

As we continue to reimagine the school for 2025 as part of our strategic review, our year 8 and 9 cohorts have had input into what electives they may like as part of a third elective block at year 9 and 10 next year. The electives are being planned around student input and interests, and students will have the opportunity to work with teachers in what each subject looks like.

Also as part of our Strategic Plan review, we have had not only staff, but the students as part of the focus groups with reviewers. This feedback will help us assess where we are as a college regarding student voice and agency and help inform actions in the new strategic plan which will guide us for the next four years.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our year 12 SRC leaders: Riya Saini, Morrisham Teariki,Kyaw Hai Hser, Ashley Schellhorn and Glennen Brown for their work with the SRC this year and with them all the best with their leadership journey in the future.
