The process of selecting elective subjects will commence over the coming week. Students and families will be provided with an information booklet that outlines the different elective subjects that are available. Students in Year 9 and 10 need to take note of the course pathways, considering recommended subjects for those Year 11/12 courses they may be interested in pursuing.
Students will be asked to complete a survey, outlining their preferred subject choices. From this, subject lines will be developed, and a final subject selection form will be sent to parents early next term.
We ask for parent support in ensuring students are well-presented each day. While the majority of students meet the expectations for uniform, there are a small number who are less organised or diligent. Common concerns are wearing sports uniform on the correct days only, having the right top warm layer (ie only wearing Year 10 or QUEST hoodies with sports uniform), wearing proper school shoes with the formal uniform and removing excess jewellery.
Following expected dress standards is an important life skill. Many of our older students would be taking up casual jobs where employers will be very strict on presentation standards and most workplaces have some form of dress code. Uniform is also a signal to students to be ready to come into a space that has standards and expectations and be mentally in the right space to step up to meet those expectations.
Again, there are only a small number not meeting the standard expected. We are also aware that some students have been keeping phones in their pockets rather than storing them in their lockers. If students are seen with phones, they will be confiscated and handed into the office. If this happens on a third occasion, the phone will be held at the office for you to collect.

This term students have been learning about the influence of the Bible on our society today, and on ourselves. They have researched its impact on movies, music, law and the formation of charities. From this they have been able to reflect on the way it has influenced the way we live. For some, it has been opportunity to really see the impact of their faith on shaping their lives.
The Bible has impacted me in showing the way I want to act towards people. The Bible says we should treat others the way we want to be treated, I think to me that means putting others before yourself. My favourite scripture has helped me to know that I don’t need to be afraid, God has not given us a spirit of fear but of love, power and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). The Bible has shown me that everything is possible with God and that you are never alone. When I go to youth group some of the scriptures are exactly what I needed to hear at those moments, they help me with what I’m going through and how I can make better choices.

The Bible has had so many impacts on my life that it would be impossible for me to recall them all, but I suppose one of the biggest impacts on my life is how I am able to find the answer to almost any of the problems in my life through the Bible. I have probably read or been read to out of the Bible since I was born and, in this way, I know many Bible stories. A small way the Bible has impacted me in my nighttime routine in which I will read a chapter a night. Finally, the Bible has impacted my life in the values it displays which I try to live out as well, such as the fruits of the spirit.

The Bible has influenced me to donate and give stuff to the people who need it most and to listen to God even in the hardest times. The Bible also influenced me with all the interesting stories about being generous and caring and listening to God.

The Bible has shown and taught me many stories of what Jesus has done. It has helped me to have a better understanding of God and everything he has done. I do not really like reading so for me movies about the Bible and Jesus have really helped to show me a better understanding and visual picture of the Bible. A series about Jesus that me and my family have enjoyed is this series called, ‘The Chosen.’ It was well made and showed many stories from the Bible. For me movies about the Bible and Jesus made a more entertaining way of understanding the Bible.

It has influenced me to give money to the poor and to listen to what God says, and it helps me through highs and lows because then I can just read it, and I can get influenced in ways like that. It has helped me that if I need to make a tough decision, I can just go to the Word and be able to find out what God wants best for his child.
