Level 5 & 6 Wonga Weekly
Week 2, Term 4
💡CBL BIG IDEA
Our Term Four Big Idea is Curiosity. Our learning will be around Business and Economics, in which students will be exploring why it's important to be a curious consumer. The students will work towards creating a business plan to meet the challenge of Pitch a sustainable or ethical product to the ‘Sharks’.
📖 LITERACY
Students will be continuing their class novels and sharing their learning through a weekly Literature Circle. We will also be incorporating our critical literacy skills in analysing how advertising influences us as consumers.
The table below outlines the Language Conventions we will be looking at during our Literacy sessions.
🧮 MATHS
In Maths, we are investigating units of Measurement. We are practising the correct use of measurement tools and using a variety of formal units to record these measurements.
Students are also converting between units of measurement in order to select the most appropriate unit for a range of purposes. They will use their knowledge of place value and their understanding of powers of 10 to assist with making these conversions.
📗GRADE 6 MEMORY BOOK
A suggested timeline and high quality examples have been posted to your child's Showbie account under 'Memory Books'. They have been briefed on the expectations and have been encouraged to follow the suggested timeline where possible. We look forward to seeing their completed books in late Term 4.
The pages for Prep, Grade 1, Grade 2 and Grade 3 should now be completed. Students should be working on their Grade 4 page and have this completed by Sunday 20th October.
👜 GRADE 5 BUDDY BAGS
Students should now have in their Buddy Bags a toy/game, an activity book, an alphabet book, a purchased toy and a letter to their buddy. The final task of creating a name plate will be completed at school, once we know the names of our buddies. We will meet our buddies on Wednesday the 20th November.
👒 HATS ON
As of September 1st, we would like to remind you that our school adheres to the SunSmart policy set by the Victorian Government. All students are required to wear a broad-brimmed hat when outdoors from the 1st September when UV levels are typically higher.
Please ensure your child brings a hat to school every day to protect them from the sun's harmful rays.
Thank you for your support in keeping our school community safe and sun-smart.
