Around our level
What a busy term it has been here in 3/4. Production, Camp, Disco, Olympics and Book Week - just to name a few.
Last week was the whole school production of ‘Zoom’. The night was met with lots of nerves and excitement, soon turned to relief and joy as students had their opportunity to perform on stage. We are all so incredibly proud of all the students who participated in the production. A big thank to to Mrs Smith for all your hard work, it was a massive success.
Elan G: I like how we had to work together and at the start of the term we got to make up some dance moves. The teachers were thoughtful enough to let us watch the production backstage on the tv.
Grace-Lee B: I loved seeing my parents in the crowd. My favourite part was the finale when I got to dance with my friends on stage.
In Literacy, we have been exploring all the different types of poetry and using our inferring skills during reading. Students wrote colour poems, 5 senses poems and free verse poetry.
Isla: I have enjoyed writing, when we get to look up things and we get to use slides. I like in poetry how sometimes you have to rhyme and sometimes you don’t have to rhyme.
Sam S: In reading I have enjoyed the kinds of books I have read and the activities that we have done. I really liked the book tasting day.
Jasmine L: I have enjoyed making slides of the animals. I like to research and have really enjoyed it.
In Numeracy, this term focussed on place value, financial maths, multiplication and division. Students have been exposed to different approaches to solve maths equations. It has been wonderful to see the students challenge themselves and try different strategies to solve equations.
Cruze F: I have liked addition this term and adding up big numbers. I prefer to use my own strategies for solving equations.
Sophia S: I have enjoyed multiplication and division strategies. They have challenged me at the right level of my learning and I felt I was learning something new. It was fun.
Jordan V: I enjoyed my teacher giving me extension on my 9 times tables. I have enjoyed learning the square grid multiplication strategy.
In Geography, we explored the continents, in particular, Africa and South America. Students chose a country from each continent and researched the population, native animals and flora.
We finished the term looking at Civics and Citizenship, and how we can contribute to our community. We have been busy collecting cans and cartons from the lunch orders and Mrs Tonna will cash them in over the holiday break. Our Yarra Road Community is so important to us, we held a mini clean up Yarra Road Day. We broke off into different groups and picked up rubbish around the school.
Trinity G: I like that we have been helping the school by collecting the cans.
Lola: I like when Pam came and spoke to us about volunteering and we got to write it in our books.
Xander H: I have enjoyed collecting the cans. I hope the money goes back to the environment and to save it.
Students are nominated by their teachers to receive a certificate of acknowledgment. The below student's certificates will be presented at our next assembly.
