Welcome back to Term 4

We hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable holiday break and that you are all feeling refreshed and ready for the exciting and busy term ahead!

We are thrilled to welcome Travis Johnson to our Eastie team. Travis and his family have recently relocated back to Echuca from Melbourne, and he will be teaching in 56B for the remainder of the year. It’s wonderful to have him on board!  We also extend a warm welcome to Tameeka Stadon, who will be contributing her skills and talents across various parts of the school throughout the term. We look forward to the positive impact both Travis and Tameeka will have on our community.

Level 4 Camp

Our Grade 5/6 students embarked on their Roses Gap Camp adventure in the Grampians on Wednesday. The students have been immersed in all things adventurous, including abseiling, canoeing, flying fox, giant swing, ropes courses and more. We eagerly await their return later today and can’t wait to hear all about the wonderful experiences they've had. From the many photos shared on Facebook, it’s clear they’ve had an amazing time filled with so much fun and excitement. To top it off, the weather has been fabulous!

School Review

The Department of Education (DET) conducts reviews of schools every 4 years. This rigorous process is conducted by the Victorian Registration & Qualifications Authority (VRQA) and the evaluation is completed with support from a DET appointed external reviewer. The school review supports each school to differentiate its improvement journey by building on current strengths and assisting it to respond to challenges.

The review:

  • welcomes school community participation in the review
  • embraces the input of experts from both within and beyond the school
  • forges links between evidence, school review, and strategic and annual planning
  • seeks multiple perspectives, engagement with the whole school community and openness to challenge for improvement
  • celebrates strengths and achievements.

The result of this is, is the development of a new 4 year School Strategic Plan (SSP). Our School Review is scheduled for term 1 of next year. Currently we are working through our Peer Review Self-Evaluation (PRSE). This is a process where we analyse our data over the last 4 years, identify our highlights and successes and unpack any challenges that we have encountered during this time.. The completed PRSE is then forwarded to our Reviewer in preparation for the review process next term. We will be asking students, staff and families for their feedback or thoughts regarding highlights, improvements and ideas for future direction in the coming weeks, so please keep an eye in future newsletters.

Finally, welcome back everyone! Let’s make Term 4 a great one!
