Senior Hoop Time

We had a big day of Senior Hoop Time at Diamond Valley Basketball Centre on Thursday 17th of October. We weren’t quite able to replicate our previous performance, where we went undefeated for the day, but the Future Stars team sure gave it a red hot go! We played a total of five games, three of those we lost by under three points and the other two slipped away from us. The Essendon North Nets represented our school extremely well, demonstrating how we are brave, bold and connected. We battled through some adversity in the morning when Zoe pulled up a little bit sick and Myra was sporting a slight knee injury.

Will was a star, using his unstoppable Russell Westbrook-like quickness throughout each match. In one game he could not miss and scored 10 points! Myra battled hard in the paint, cleaning up the glass like Charles Barkley and grabbing every rebound she could get her hands on, which was most of them! Yash made some really nice baskets and played some exceptional defence like Lebron with his determined face. In one game he got a really nice block on one of the other team’s best players. Chase made some big, Kobe-like clutch plays, drew some fouls, was able to get to the free throw line quite a bit and keep us in some close games! Mariana also played some great Gary Payton-like defence, not letting anyone past her and staying aggressive, shooting some nice looking jump shots. Atilla showed off his KD shooting skills by making a few long range buckets. Zayn made some long passes like Dwyane Wade and also banked a couple of nice jump shots in. Zoe used her Wembanyama-esque height and length to grab some really important rebounds and contest some lay ups inside.

Overall, these students should be extremely proud of themselves and hold their heads high. The regional stage is a big step up from the previous competition and we were in a position to win almost every game we played in. This shows how hard we worked at training and how determined the team was on the day. We would like to thank Ms Harris, Ms Elsbury and Mrs Barletta for making this all happen! Also a massive thanks to the parents of each child who came down to support the team and helped us with the scoring.
