Minibeasts in Year One
Year One students were buzzing with excitement as we delved into the fascinating world of minibeasts! From underground to undersea, we’ve been exploring how we classify minibeasts, learning about their habitats, diets, and the important roles they play in ecosystems.
We saw so many minibeasts including a giant burrowing cockroach, giant millipede, spider crab, sea stars, sea biscuits, spiny leaf stick insects, and a yabby.
We also looked at predators like the Tawny Frogmouth, Scorpion, and Tarantula, discussing how they rely on hunting other minibeasts to survive. These predators help keep the ecosystem balanced by controlling the populations of their prey.
We were extremely lucky to have a surprise visit from a critically endangered Mountain Pygmy Possum!
We learnt so many interesting facts about minibeasts. We can’t wait to share all our new knowledge with you.
