From the Senior Leadership

APPOINTMENTS, SICK BAY & EARLY COLLECTION FROM SCHOOL

We understand that at times appointments during school hours can’t be avoided. If you require your child to be picked up early from school to assist with the smooth and quick processes we require our parents to write a note in your child's diary for it to be signed by the homeroom teacher in the morning. This will allow your child to leave their classroom at the required time and to make their way down to student services to be waiting for you. When this doesn’t take place the student then has to remain in class until the parent arrives at the front office and a runner is sent to collect the student. When parents are in a rush this can then further delay your daughters' leave time.

Additionally to this, at no point should students be messaging their parents via their laptops to inform them to collect them from the College. In the event this does happen where the parent receives a message from their child via this mode of communication  it is best practice for the parent to call the College in the first instance prior to just turning up to collect them. We thank our families for their support in ensuring we can make this process as quick and smooth as possible.

BISHOP’S AWARD OF EXCELLENCE

On Thursday 5 September, Mrs Cairns, Mrs Cocks and Ms White attended the 2024 Bishop of Parramatta Excellence awards. The awards recognise one student from each Catholic secondary school in our diocese who has modelled the values of their learning and faith community to an exceptional level. We were delighted to acknowledge Audrey Cocks as the worthy recipient of this significant achievement.

The following is the citation which was read beautifully by our new incoming College Vice Captain for 2024-2025, Scarlett Storr.

Audrey embodies our college motto of faith, courage and tolerance. As College Vice-Captain, she has shown outstanding, authentic leadership that inspires and embodies our school spirit. Audrey demonstrates a strong commitment to helping others through her leadership and engagement in social justice and community initiatives. She exemplifies the college charism by using her gifts to inspire and advocate for all young women within the college community. Audrey is recognised and acknowledged for her dedication to her studies, her continuing role in supporting others and the empathetic way she models servant leadership. She is a humble, kind and faith-filled leader.

Congratulations Audrey for your outstanding leadership.

YEAR 11 PRELIMINARY EXAMS

As Year 11 starts to conclude their preliminary year, it will see the students sit their final exams. The exam block will start on Friday, 13 September and conclude Friday, 20 September. All students have received their timetable and they should now spend time double checking and planning their study sessions in the lead up to the examinations.

It is important for both parents and students to note that unless otherwise informed, all exams count towards the formal assessment of subjects.  Failure to complete an exam will require the same substantiation as for any missed assessment task, or you will receive zero for the task.   All morning exams start at 8.30am and afternoon exams start at 12.30pm; students should arrive at school at least 20 minutes before the start of each exam. Each exam will have an additional 5 minutes reading time (10mins for English).  Misreading of the timetable is not a sufficient reason for missing an exam.

Students will only attend school on the day they have a timetabled exam, TVET students will still be required to attend classes as normal during the exam period. If your daughters exam timetable has two exams on the one day then they are required to remain at the college between exams. A room will be allocated for students to study in during this time.

We wish the Year 11 students well as they prepare and undertake their exams.
