Principal's Message

SchoolVision - To empower students to shape and  enrich the world around them.

TERM 4

Welcome everyone to Term 4! This is always my favourite term of the year. There are so many opportunities to celebrate our learning and gear up for an exciting year ahead.

SMOKING CEREMONY

On Tuesday, we launched our 3-6 Indigenous Unit of Studies with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony conducted by Traditional Owner, Ash Skinner.

Ash was such a moving, powerful and engaging orator. He also commented on how respectful our students were throughout the ceremony.

LUNCHTIME CLUBS

We have a wide range of lunchtime clubs for students to access throughout the week as detailed below:

Monday:

Sports with Mr Lord in the Gym

Dance in Mr Pavez' room

Tuesday:

Choir with Mrs Kebbell in the Music Room

Art with Mr Phillips in the Art Room

Wednesday:

Swifties Club Year 5 and 6 only with Kaia in the Music Room

Thursday:

*In addition to this we have a quiet space which is limited in numbers to support the sensory needs of some of our students.

*There is also Matilda practice for students who are taking part in the performance.

Mrs Renfrey is also creating a visual display for students on the noticeboard outside the Year 1 and 2 classrooms.

PARENTS AND FRIENDS ASSOCIATION

BHPS now has a Parents and Friends Association, which will focus on social engagement and community building. If any parents or caregivers are interested in joining, they can get in touch at parentfriendsbhps@gmail.com

The Barwon Heads Parents and Friends Association are already in the very early stages of establishing a Second-Hand Uniform Shop.

We are seeking donations of Barwon Heads Primary School uniform as well as unbranded navy uniform pieces that that are of good and reasonable quality.

Please drop your uniform donations into the signed tub at the school office.

2025 PREP PARENT MEETINGS

Commencing in week 4, we will begin conducting 1:1 meetings with 2025 prep parents so that we can begin to understand how we can support and cater for prep students before they commence. Thank you to the families who have booked in times. If you haven't as yet, please contact our Transition Coordinator, Jess Chapman. jess.chapman@education.vic.gov.au

We can't wait to start getting to know our new Preps like Etta (pictured below)

LIBRARY

Jaki Cornell has now finished up with BHPS in the library. Jaki has been a wonderful librarian for our school and will be missed. Thank you so much to our parent group who have taken on this role in Jaki's absence. It has been such a highlight seeing our parents work together to keep the library running.

WELL DONE EVIE

Congratulations to Evie Tabone who has made the Southern Cross Challenge squad to compete in January. This puts Evie in the top 20 country Victorian Under 14 basketball players in the state. Evie will be competing against the best Junior basketball players in the country and we wish her all the best.

NEW SCHOOL SIGN

Thank you to Nathan Golightly and his team for installing our new sign and accompanying landscaping (pictured above). It looks fantastic from the street.
