Welcome back, Wonderful Families!

The sun was shining as students arrived on Wednesday, and smiles and squeals of joy filled the air. The enthusiasm was palpable and infectious, with parents joining in the excitement and taking time to catch up with other families. It was such a joy to witness.

This term, we give a special welcome to the Krol and Visser families. Both Daniels have joined the wonderful 1/2J classroom and have quickly made friends and settled in. The Bayside spirit shone brightly as students from 1/2J and other classes rushed to welcome the boys and invite them to play.

Our staff was energised by outstanding professional development provided by Essential Assessment. This tool will help shape and enhance our Mathematics assessments, ensuring consistency and excellence throughout the school. Thank you for supporting this important opportunity for our staff to become experts in using this platform.

As we approach the end of this magnificent school year, I pray you find time to rest and enjoy each moment. Let us model to our children the importance of living in the present, savouring the joys around us, and cultivating a grateful heart.

“And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” (Hebrews 12:1-2)

Mrs Danielle Lupi, Head of Primary

Reading Hour

New date announced! Families are invited to Reading Hour on Monday 28 October in the Library from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Students can wear comfy clothes or pyjamas and bring along a gold coin for a hot chocolate and puppet show performed by our friends at Melbourne Puppet Kerfuffle.

Years 3/4 Operation Christmas Child

In Term 3, students in Years 3 and 4 asked the Bayside community for donations of quality used books and toys, then they made sushi and fruit kebabs to sell at the Bayside Community Market.

Each student wrote a formal letter to a local supermarket, asking for donations and we were excited to receive $100 to pay for our ingredients! This enabled us to raise money to fill 12 Operation Christmas Child boxes for children who would not otherwise receive any Christmas presents. Our careful preparation and community support enabled us to raise over $610 dollars!

This term, a group of students worked out the best way to spend our profits and bought a variety of clothing, craft, toys and hygiene products to help those in need and to continue a line of helpfulness throughout the world.

We’ve filled twelve gift boxes for boys and girls, with many of our purchased items left over to support those doing it tough in Thailand due to the recent flooding. We were also able to send $200 to Thailand to help them rebuild. A huge thank you to all who supported us!

In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” Acts 20:35

Primary Buddy Program

Every fortnight on a Friday during Period 6, there is a tangible buzz of excitement within the Primary school… It must be Buddy time!

The Buddy program is an amazing opportunity to foster a sense of unity and teamwork across our differing year groups.

At the beginning of the year, each child has a buddy partner, which fosters wonderful synergy across the year groups. The older children mentor and encourage the younger members of our College community and transfer skills between them. The activities are chosen to facilitate team-building and collaborative learning, which are conducive to building lasting friendships.

Students participate in recreational games on the oval, arts and crafts, topic-based activities, visits to the farm, and other cross-curricular activities.

And if we’re honest, they are a whole lot of fun for everyone (including the teachers), and it is such a fabulous initiative to co-partner across the cohorts.
