Principals Column

Welcome to another fortnight of the Anglesea Primary School Newsletter.

As is often the case at this time of the year, it has been another vibrant and energising few weeks at school. Students and staff are settling well into the rhythm of the school year, with classrooms buzzing with curiosity and learning spaces filled with enthusiasm and purpose.

Thank you to everyone who expressed interest in joining our School Council for 2026 and contributing to the strategic direction of the school. School Council plays an important role in helping guide our school’s future, and we are grateful for the commitment of those who have stepped forward.

We are very pleased to announce our 2026 School Council members are:

  • Sam Bailey
  • Bec Charles
  • Amy Clemens
  • Amanda Di Blasi
  • Twiggy Finemore
  • Patrick McConchie

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Cameron Shaw, who has been a pivotal member of School Council for a number of years, including serving as School Council President from 2024. Cameron has provided strong leadership for our school community and played a significant role in supporting key initiatives and projects. We thank Cameron for his dedication and significant contribution to Anglesea Primary School. Thank you.

NAPLAN

Students in Years 3 and 5 will take part in NAPLAN from 11th > 23rd March. These assessments provide a snapshot of how students are progressing in literacy and numeracy. We encourage students to approach the tests calmly and simply try their best. Our focus always remains on supporting every child’s ongoing learning and growth.

Somers Camp

Next week we have eight students attending the Somers Camp program, departing on Tuesday morning. Students selected from our school will join approximately 160 Year 5 and 6 students from across our district to participate in this special Outdoor Education and Personal Development program.

The camp includes a wide range of activities such as high and low ropes courses, boating, rock climbing, abseiling, the challenge swing and initiative activities, which require a reasonable level of physical fitness.

Students will also participate in activities including archery, art, drama, environmental studies, bush cooking, orienteering, bike education, the flying fox, bush dancing, disco night, singing and diary writing.
