Lent, the 40-day season leading into Easter, can sometimes be challenging as we try to make it a meaningful and transformative experience. The three key practices of Lent are prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Many people begin Lent with good intentions to make positive changes; however, the real challenge is putting those intentions into action.
You might like to consider these three simple tips to help make Lent meaningful:
Be Realistic – Avoid overwhelming yourself with extreme penances that can lead to burnout.
Focus on Transformation – Let go of habits or distractions that hinder your love for God and others.
Don’t Give Up – If you have an off day, simply begin again the next day.
An article on the Melbourne Archdiocese website, Melbourne Catholic, encourages people to pray this simple 14-word prayer each day during Lent:
“Lord, today is there someone you want me to connect with outside the Church?”
It may seem like a small step, but it has the potential to bring about meaningful change in our own hearts and in the lives of others.

During Lent, our school is hosting Friday FUNdraisers to support Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion. Students are invited to bring a gold coin donation each week (not compulsory).
This Friday 27th February, our Year Five/Six students and Preps will lead a Water Bucket Relay Challenge, inspired by the story of Sisilia from Tanzania and the challenges her community faces in accessing safe water.
Students will work in House Colour teams to carefully transfer water between buckets, highlighting the importance of water conservation and global responsibility. In keeping with our commitment to stewardship, the water collected will be saved and used next week to water our vegetable and flower gardens.
We look forward to journeying through Lent with generosity and compassion.

For children with incurable diseases
Let us pray that children suffering from incurable diseases and their families receive the necessary medical care and support, never losing strength and hope.
