Child Safety

Our highest priority

Child Safety – Empowering Our Students

At Resurrection School, child safety is more than a policy — it is a shared commitment that shapes our culture, practices and everyday interactions. We are proud to actively uphold the Victorian Child Safe Standards, particularly Standard 3, which focuses on empowering children and young people.

What is Child Safe Standard 3?

Standard 3 states:Children and young people are empowered about their rights, participate in decisions affecting them and are taken seriously.

This means we ensure our students:

  • Understand their rights to feel safe and be heard
  • Know the difference between safe and unsafe behaviours
  • Are confident to speak up if something doesn’t feel right
  • Trust that adults will listen and respond appropriately

Student Voice and Leadership

Each year, our Student Leaders and SRC representatives participate in dedicated child safety training.

Through this training, students:

  • Learn about their rights and responsibilities
  • Develop confidence in identifying trusted adults
  • Understand reporting pathways within the school
  • Explore how to advocate for themselves and others

We explicitly teach students who they can approach for help — whether that be their classroom teacher, a member of the leadership team, our Wellbeing Leader, or another trusted staff member. Visual reminders around the school also reinforce these key contacts.

Creating a Culture of Safety

Empowerment is embedded across our school in many ways:

  • Classroom discussions about respectful relationships
  • Social and emotional learning programs
  • Clear, age-appropriate language about personal safety
  • Encouraging students to contribute to school decision-making
  • Actively listening and responding when students raise concerns

When children know their voices matter, they are more likely to seek help early. We want every student to feel confident, supported and safe at school.

Child safety is everyone’s responsibility, and we thank our families for partnering with us in reinforcing these important messages at home.

School Policies

A reminder to our community that our full suite of school policies is always available on our school website. These policies guide our governance, decision-making and daily practices, including our commitment to child safety and student wellbeing.

Families are welcome to access or download these documents at any time. If you require any assistance locating a specific policy, please contact the school office and we will be happy to help.

If you ever wish to discuss anything relating to Child Safety, please contact our Child Safety Officer, Danielle Rowley, at drowley@reskeysborough.catholic.edu.au.

Driveway and Parking Reminders

Just a friendly reminder that Resurrection School and Parish has three driveways. For safety and traffic flow:

  • Entry 1 and Entry 2 may be used between 9:00am – 3:00pm and after 4:00pm.
  • Entry 3 is not to be used at any time.
  • Please note: Entry 1 and Entry 2 are not to be used for school drop-off or pick-up.

Using the incorrect driveway or carpark is creating a safety risk for our students and must not continue.

The safest place to park is in the designated area next to the oval off Loxwood Avenue.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school community safe.
