Rocket Challenge
Last week we celebrated International Girls and Women in Science by making straw rockets to celebrate our 2026 Australian of the Year - Katherine Bennell‑Pegg .
Katherine Bennell‑Pegg is Australia’s first female astronaut, the first person to qualify as an astronaut under the Australian flag AND the 2026 Australian of the Year! Her journey began as a star‑struck kid lying in the grass and gazing at the night sky, a curiosity that grew into a lifelong passion for space and STEM. She inspires young Australians to dream boldly, explore fearlessly, and embrace hands‑on science. Thanks to everyone who came and became involved.
