This week 56B have just begun to read ‘The Grandest Bookshop in the World’. The text is a fantasy novel set in 1893 Melbourne, centred on siblings Pearl and Vally Cole, who live in their father’s magical Coles Book Arcade. When a mysterious figure, the Obscurosmith, tricks their father into a dangerous deal, the children must solve seven magical, high-stakes puzzles by midnight to save their home, family, and memories. The story is based on the real-life 19th-century Coles Book Arcade in Melbourne, renowned for being a three-story, whimsical wonderland filled with books, monkeys, talking parrots, and automata.

We are looking forward to diving in and enjoying the adventures Pearl and Vally face.
