ANZAC DAY EVENTS

ANZAC Day holds a special place at Baimbridge College. Each year, we honour those who sacrificed for the life we enjoy today, while supporting the RSL and Legacy in their work across our community.
On Wednesday 23 April, our students headed into the Hamilton CBD to sell ANZAC badges, raising vital funds for the RSL. Every year the students come back buzzing, sharing great stories about people donating without even taking a badge — or proudly handing over $50 for one. More than just a fundraiser, this tradition teaches important lessons: the power of kindness, pride in giving back, and how a simple smile and a friendly "hello" can make all the difference.
After their shift, students were welcomed at the Hamilton RSL for a well-earned drink and nibbles, where RSL President Graeme Mustow OAM spoke to them about the work RSL and Legacy do to support veterans and their families.
Our annual ANZAC Assembly was held the following day, Thursday 24 April. Led by our Student Representative Council (SRC), the full commemorative service was delivered with respect and care. We were honoured to have special guests from Legacy attend. As part of the service, wreaths were laid at the base of the Honour Board, remembering former Baimbridge students who served between 1939 and 1945.
On ANZAC Day itself, students Olivia, Chloe, Will and Xander joined Dr and Mrs Hill, Mr and Mrs Donehue, past Principal Mr Vecchiet, and Mrs Robinson at Legacy House to cook a hot breakfast for the Dawn Service attendees. Bacon, eggs, sausages and toast were served up with smiles. This is always a highlight, and Legacy were, as always, incredibly appreciative. A huge thank you to 2 Doors Hamilton for their generous donation of eggs — we couldn’t have done it without you.
Our students also proudly participated in district services across the region.

Every single student represented Baimbridge with pride and respect — you did us proud.
In Hamilton, our march participants looked fantastic. A special thank you to School Leaders Keely and Austin, School Captains Ontaj and Issy, SRC President Abbi, and students Chloe, Olivia, Zac, Lilly, Charlotte, Will and Hayley for taking time out of their weekend to march under the Baimbridge banner. You shone brightly and represented everything we stand for.
Thank you also to staff members Mrs Colquhoun, Mr Churchill, Mrs Lonergan, and Mrs Annett for your support on the day.
Mia delivered a speech at the Coleraine service about what ANZAC means to her, an amazing effort for a Year 9 student to stand and deliver on such an auspicious occasion, congratulations on your Courage Mia, well done and thank you!
We’d also like to mention our students in the 315 Army Cadet Unit, who carried out their roles with distinction, with Stephen taking on a leadership role during the service.
It was wonderful to spot so many familiar faces too — past students and former staff marching with the band and singing in the choir.
Baimbridge College is proud of its strong relationship with the RSL and Legacy. It's a relationship we value deeply. These moments remind us that our community is only as strong as the people willing to stand up, show up, and keep it connected — and at Baimbridge, that spirit is alive and well.
Lest We Forget.
