Principal's Report

Welcome Back!

Term 2 is well underway with programs and events already occurring throughout all parts of our school. I thank our staff for their hard work in providing such enriching opportunities for our students. We have a number of new families who have joined our school this term. I trust all families will welcome our new students to our great school.

School Development Day

All staff at Uralla Central School were involved in workshops on the first school development day where we looked at High Potential and Gifted Education.  Our day was designed to provide all staff with an overview of the Department of Education policy and to discover where we are already offering such opportunities for our students, and where we could include further possibilities. We will continue to re-visit this throughout the year as part of our School Plan for 2025.

Staffing for Term 2

We welcome back Tom McLean, Assistant Principal, as he returns from leave in Term 1. I thank Lauren Cotter for her role as relieving Assistant Principal while Mr McLean was away. We also welcome Jennine Wilson to our Kindergarten class for the rest of the year. Mrs Wilson will take Kindergarten every Tuesday while Mrs Hunt is working on relieving Assistant Principal duties.  Welcome to Sally Lucas who will take our Maths classes each Friday for Carl Yeomans. Peter Sims will replace Sam Brown each Monday. Amy Hobbs, Head Teacher Administration has returned to our school from a higher duties position - welcome back Mrs Hobbs. I would like to thank Gemma Taylor for teaching Mrs Hobbs' teaching load while she was away.  Miss Taylor was a wonderful teacher in our school and we wish her all the very best in her new teaching role in the Newcastle area.

Heritage Car Rally Weekend

Last weekend we welcomed 125 heritage cars to our school as part of a rally, running across our region.  The participants were from across Australia.  Our school hosted the event at lunch time on Saturday, welcoming nearly 250 people to our school. Our Food Technology classes provided lunch packs for our guests which involved students cooking and preparing the menu and food for the day.  Students and staff who were involved (and this also included students and staff who are not involved in our normal food technology program), commenced working before 9am on Saturday morning and didn't finish until nearly 3pm. I sincerely thank them for their incredible support, giving up their own time over the weekend to ensure our contribution was such a success.  Our Food Technology teacher, Jodie Taylor, is simply amazing and I thank her for her organisation and coordination of the event.  Thanks again to all students and staff who assisted us on the day.

Please see below some images of the cars assembled on the school oval and our preparation for lunch:

Assembly - Next Tuesday @ 10am

We invite everyone along to attend our next assembly at 10am next Tuesday 13 May.  At our assembly we will be presenting our Student Representative Council (SRC) members with their badges, presenting the Uralla Rotary Art Show Awards, the Heritage Car Rally Colouring Competition winners along with our Stage 3 students providing some reports about their learning.  Please come along and join us next Tuesday.

Kindergarten and Year 7 Transition Dates

We are beginning to accept enrolments for students enrolling in Kindergarten and Year 7 in 2026. Our school will be holding two transition programs for students.  Please see information below.  If you would like to enquire about enrolling your child at Uralla Central School in 2026, or you are aware of families in our community who are also interested, please contact us at the school. Please note:  Current Uralla Central School students in Year 6 do not need to complete an enrolment for Year 7 at our school.

ANZAC Day 2025

Thank you to the number of students and staff who marched with us as part of the Uralla ANZAC Day Parade during the school holidays. Our students also attended a school ANZAC service last Friday to commemorate this special event on our calendar.

Athletics Carnival This Week

Just a reminder that our Athletics Carnival will be held this Friday at the Uralla Sporting Complex. Students need to arrive at the complex, not at school. Those students who catch the bus will be dropped off at the complex and collected at home time.  Students will be dismissed from the complex at home time. Parents are most welcome to come along and join us on the day.

Have a great fortnight!
