Caritas Australia - Project Compassion 2025

Each year during the Catholic Church season of Lent, Caritas Australia undertakes their major fundraising event for the year through Project Compassion. All donations raised are directed to Caritas Australia to support communities in need.

The theme for Project Compassion 2025 is Unite against poverty this Lent

Thank you to the Year 3/4 classes for co-ordinating last week’s Vietnamese paper flower making activity as our Project Compassion Friday FUNdraiser. I hope your child shared their paper flower making skills with you as well as information explaining Lam’s success story with starting his graphic design business in Vietnam.

This week the Year 1/2 classes have organised a prayer table placemat weaving activity as their Project Compassion Friday FUNdraiser activity. This activity reflects the story of Irene from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Students and staff are encouraged to bring one or more gold coins to put in their classroom Project Compassion Box.

Mass of St Patrick for Catholic Schools

On Friday, 21st March, a group of Year 6 student leaders had the special opportunity to travel to St Patrick’s Cathedral to celebrate a Mass in honour of St Patrick and Catholic Education Week. They were joined by over 1,000 students from primary and secondary Catholic schools across theArchdiocese of Melbourne.

The Mass began with the traditional Procession of School Banners. A heartfelt thank you to the talented Miss O’Donnell and her creative mother, Mrs O’Donnell, for designing and making our beautiful new school banner, proudly displaying our school logo and name.

The main celebrant of the Mass was Archbishop Peter, joined by bishops and some priests from across Melbourne. At the end of Mass, we were lucky to meet and chat with Bishop Tony, who represents the Southern Region, which includes our school and parish.

A highlight of the day was the unveiling of a new icon of St Patrick in the Cathedral. Our parent helper, Cathy, captured a wonderful photo of our students with Bishop Tony and the new icon of St Patrick.

Following the Mass, we joined other schools at Treasury Gardens to enjoy lunch and soak up the vibrant atmosphere, complete with live music and dancing from talented secondary school bands.

It was a memorable and inspiring day, celebrating our faith, our school community, and the legacy of St Patrick.

St Patrick ... pray for us

Sacrament of Reconciliation 2025

Please keep in your prayers the children from our school and parish who will be celebrating their First Reconciliation this evening in the Church.

This marks their second sacrament on their faith journey as they take steps toward becoming full members of the Catholic Church.

In preparation for this sacred moment, the children have been learning about the Sacrament of Reconciliation in class and have deepened their understanding through a Family Faith Evening and a Reconciliation Reflection Day.

As part of their Reflection Day, the students spent some time on their own and in silence to reflect on the times they might have hurt others by their actions and how they could show that person they are sorry.

May the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation bring them peace, grace, and a deeper connection with their faith.

Pope Francis' Prayer Intention for March

Every year, Pope Francis publishes his prayer intentions for each month. Please try to find some quiet time in your busy day to pray this prayer. Thank you.

For families in crisis

Let us pray that broken families might discover the cure for their wounds through forgiveness, rediscovering each other's gifts, even in their differences.  Amen

Please remember Pope Francis in your prayers
