Year 5 Spotlight

Enjoying the Senior Campus

The Year 5 students have had a smooth transition in crossing over to the Wingrove Street Campus (WSC). Students have openly shared the things they have enjoyed, noticed and  about being on the senior campus.

  • WSC campus reflections:
  • “I like the little courtyard outside the classrooms, it’s useful for little breaks or chatting with friends just before school starts.” ~ Emily, 5C
  • “I like the modern look of the building and how we all try to keep it clean. Using our class trolley to keep our lunch and things in when crossing the road is helpful too.” ~ Zoe, 5C
  • “I like how we get to use our own technology, some of us use iPads and some have new laptops. We keep it organised in numbered slots.” ~ Matilda, 5C
  • “I like how organised the building is and we know what we need to do to get ready to cross the road safely.” ~ Elizabeth, 5C
  • “There are so many nooks and crannies that we can use to learn or calm down in.” ~ Harriet, 5C
  • “I like having my bike in the bike lock up area on WSC, so I don’t have to cross the road and use the other bike area. Each class also has a little breakout area that is useful for small group things.” ~ Dash, 5A
  • “WSC is big enough to have meetings with the other Year 5 classes, either outside or inside. I also like having a mini office here with people there to help us if we need.” ~ Benjamin, 5A
  • “There are lots of shared spaces in WSC. I often see students learning in different areas and I see the teachers meeting in different areas as well. It’s nice to see us learn altogether.” ~ Navy, 5A

NAPLAN Testing

We should be incredibly proud of the Year 5 students after the testing period for Year 5 NAPLAN at FPS is over. The students were made familiar with the testing platform in readiness for the online tests. They were all incredibly well behaved, allowing others to concentrate. Everyone showed great resilience, determination and an excellent attitude by giving it a go!

  • “Language conventions was easy and reading was the hardest. I’m happy that it’s over.” ~ Paddy, 5C
  • “It was silent and all the kids were really well behaved.” ~ Willow, 5C
  • “It was very quiet so you can listen better and focus on your work.” ~ Remy, 5B
  • “Maths was the hardest.” ~ Daniel, 5B
  • “I found Maths the most fun.” ~ Levi, 5B
  • “The room was really quiet.” ~ Jarrah, 5B
  • “The time was very stressful.” ~ Siena, 5B
