Literacy

This term, students have been focusing on strengthening their reading stamina while honing various strategies to decode challenging words and enhance their fluency. Additionally, they have been actively working on their personal reading goals to further improve their skills. In writing, students have been learning how to craft recounts, with an emphasis on structure and the use of language features like past tense and descriptive adjectives.

Numeracy

This term in Maths, students have been enhancing their counting skills by practicing skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s, both forwards and backwards from various starting points. They've also explored concepts such as place value and data. To reinforce these ideas, students have engaged in number talks and played fluency games, fostering a deeper understanding and mastery of the topics covered.

Inquiry

This term, we have focused on instilling essential road safety knowledge and practices among students. Through interactive lessons and engaging activities, we have worked to ensure that every child understands the importance of staying vigilant and making responsible choices on and around roads.

A key highlight was the RACV Road Safety Incursion, where students participated in engaging sessions led by RACV educators. This will continue in term 2 were we will also focus on bike safety.
