Community Hub

Connect, share and learn - RPPS Hub

Term 1 has been a steady and productive time at the hub. While we didn’t introduce many new programs, we continued running our staple ones, ensuring ongoing support for our community. Here’s what we’ve been up to:

Toy Well Official Launch

We officially opened our Toy Well, allowing families to borrow educational toys for young children. Mayor Jarrod Bell attended the event and officially opened the Toy Well, making it a special milestone for our community.

International Women's Day picinic

We celebrated International Women’s Day with a community picnic on a beautiful sunny day. The great weather made it even more enjoyable as women came together to connect, relax, and appreciate one another. It was a wonderful opportunity to recognize the contributions of women in our community while sharing food and good company.

Sewing Program

Our sewing classes continued in helping participants build their skills and confidence.

In addition to learning the basics and creating small finished projects, the women have been working on a joint project to sew covers for the playgroup furniture, adding a personal and practical touch to the space.

EAL - Intermediate & English for Citizenship

classes have been running smoothly, supporting participants as they improve their language skills and prepare for their citizenship journey. These classes offer valuable lessons for those looking to integrate into the community and gain confidence in their English communication. This term, Fatima from AEC visited our classes to speak to students about the upcoming Federal Elections and how our voting system works - providing useful information for those who are or will be eligible to vote this year.

Playgroup

The playgroup remained a strong space for families to connect and learn through play.

It’s been a solid start to the year, and we look forward to what’s ahead in Term 2!

We hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday :)

What's On in Term 2...

This program has been highly popular in and incredibly successful in 2024.

30+ women are now confident in the water and have learnt how to swim.

If you have always wanted to learn but are too afraid, then this is the right time to be brave and jump in!

To register, or need about more information, please see Alaa in the Hub or message her on 0406 217 602

Volunteering opportunities

At the hub, we are always looking for volunteers!

Volunteering is a great opportunity to work with like-minded people, make new friends and connections and simply take a break from your daily routines.

We currently need volunteers for Breakfast Club on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Why volunteer at the Breakfast Club?

Because you can...

  • Make a difference: Help children start their day with a healthy breakfast and experience the satisfaction of giving back to your community
  • Gain experience: Build skills in food preparation, customer service, and community support.
  • Meet new people: work in a team environments, connect with other volunteers and community members.
  • Pathway to employment: Volunteering can provide valuable experience and references that may lead to paid work opportunities.
  • Flexible commitment: Volunteer in a way that fits your schedule.

Mother's Day is approaching, and we need your help to wrap some gifts!

We have multiple dates for the working bee for you to choose from (you are more than welcome to choose as many dates as you like).
