Performing Arts

It's been a special term in Performing Arts. We were lucky enough to have the MSO visit with some talented musicians who performed for our students, and even invited the students to play along with them! They love coming to Roxy and we hope they'll keep coming back each year. 

Preps

Preps have been working on becoming familiar with some important music, drama, and dance skills. They have been singing, with a focus on call and response and matching pitch. They have also been moving their bodies in different ways. matching their movements with sound, and even using them to make sounds. 

1/2

Grade 1/2s have been working towards presenting their own puppet shows. They've been focused on creating voices that represent their puppet characters, and presenting a clear and engaging story to the audience. 

3/4 

Grade 3/4s have been working on beat counting and playing in time as they explore melodies on tuned percussion instruments. 

5/6

Students in grades 5 and 6 have been working hard on creating a podcast episode. They have been through the research stage, writing their scripts, rehearsing, and are now up to recording their episodes. Next term they will also learn about creating sound effects and creating an opening piece of music using digital composition.
