STEM Report

Congratulations to all students on a great start to the year. After a brief settling in period, students have hit the ground running and emersed themselves in their Term 1 STEM topics.

Our junior classes really did shine bright this term, with engagement and enthusiasm at the forefront. It was a joy to see Prep Student's faces light up as they enter the STEM room for the first time and even more pleasing to see how quickly they could adapt to different routines in their Specialist classes. After learning about safety in STEM, Prep students used the remainder of the term to explore the body's 5 senses using songs, games and mini-investigations. Check out some of the photos below.

The Grade 1/2s used their class time to learn about different materials and the properties that make them useful to us. They worked to expand their vocabulary of descriptive words and saw first hand how properties of materials might change if an object gets wet. Students finished the term strong, with an impressive performance in their spaghetti tower challenge. Some groups creating structures that reached over a 1metre tall!!
