Term One

7-12 Camps

Early March saw our Year 7-12 students setting off on their annual camp, returning tired but with big smiles and stories to tell. Here are just a few photos from the six different LCS camps throughout Tasmania and interstate:

Year 7: Camp Banksia, Port Sorell

 Year 8: Camp Clayton, Ulverstone

Year 9: Spring Bay Mill, Triabunna

 Year 10: Maria Island

 Year 11: Sydney

 Year 12: Melbourne

LCS camps are designed to give students the opportunity to form meaningful connections with their peers and staff, to embark on new experiences and to spend time in creation.

"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Daily they pour forth speech; nightly they reveal knowledge, but they have no language, no words, no sound, yet their voice has gone out into all the lands."

Psalm 19:1-2

Class Time

Our Grade 3 students buried big white underpants that they will dig up later this month to learn about the microbial activity working underground in their veggie garden.

Our Grade 5s strummed ukuleles, making a joyful noise in Mrs Lauren Fry's music lessons. Our Prep/Grade 1 classes had a blast at their Water Fun Day.

And our Year 9 students blew bubbles! Well, Secondary Science Teacher Mr Andrew Swift directed them to make observations for a unit on the nature of light, exploring transparency, colour and reflection.

This is just a small sample of the diversity of our lessons this term and we look forward to sharing many more with you throughout the year!

TRJ Departure

March 3 was an important date on our Year 9 calendar as students participated in The Rite Journey (TRJ) departure night. This ceremony is a meaningful milestone at LCS, marking a key transition for Year 9 students as they step into greater maturity and responsibility.

Students, parents and mentors joined in a time of reflection, affirmation and commitment.

Our TRJ program is rooted in faith and community, reinforcing the message that our students are supported, valued and equipped to navigate the path to adulthood with confidence.

"Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."

– Proverbs 22:6

Seahorse Discovery

Our Year 1 students had a wonderful time exploring and learning about seahorses last week thanks to Mr Craig Hawkins from Seahorse World and Creation Science. Year 1 teacher Mrs Bec Coles said it was a vibrant time of learning.

"We learnt about what animals need and the unique characteristics that God has given to seahorses. Some of us were able to use hand puppets to show what animals are predators to the seahorse. At the end we were able to have a go at holding some seahorses as well as hermit crabs," she said.

"We finished our time by drawing a scientific diagram of the seahorse."

A big thank you to Mr Hawkins for bringing such an intriguing lesson to our Year 1 students, one we're sure they won't quickly forget!
