STEM

A group of our Year 9 students attended the first session of the Girls and Boys in STEM program at the Ballarat Tech School last week and already, we’ve had a challenge winner from our school.
The students worked in teams with other schools around Ballarat to solve a real industry problem. Mars Wrigley staff presented the students with a quality control challenge to separate sub-quality Maltesers from the production line before packaging. The determination, collaboration and creativity on display blew the Mars Wrigley staff away. In just 3 hours the students displayed the skills of budding engineers and produce impressive prototype solutions.
While 2 teams received awards for their outstanding work, enormous congratulations were extended to all teams for their excellent efforts in design and teamwork. The team that delivered the best prototype solution to the challenge was awarded the Mars Wrigley Golden Ticket to tour the Ballarat Mars Factory site, of which Michen Fernando was a winner.
