News from the

Year 10 Team

Moving from Year 9 into Year 10 is a significant shift for our students. Students in Year 10 have chosen their own subjects and it is a year when our students begin to gravitate toward the pathway of their choice. An overwhelming majority of our Year 10 students have made a great start to the year in all of their chosen subjects and are making the most of the opportunities that this year brings.

One really significant event in Semester 1 is Work Experience week. This will take place during Week 3 of Term 2, May 5 – 9 inclusive. As a school we place significant value on this opportunity for our Year 10s’ therefore no Year 10 classes are scheduled for Week 3 Term 2. Students are using Learning and Wellbeing class time to complete workplace modules, decide what workplace they would like to attend and communicating with potential workplaces. As you can appreciate, this is a significant logistical challenge, so we are really encouraging our students to complete the appropriate paperwork in a timely manner. As parents/carers, there will also be forms that you will need to sign before this can happen, so please reach out to your child’s Learning and Wellbeing Teacher, or our Pathways Staff if you have questions.

When your child is unwell, please continue to enter the absences on Compass and if your child has a VCE or a VET subject, a Medical Certificate needs to be provided to ensure that it is not counted as an unapproved absence. Please reach out if there are ongoing health, or wellbeing concerns so we can support your child in the best ways that we can.

We also need to acknowledge our amazing Year 10 Team Leaders, Michael Groth and Nathan Thomas for ensuring a smooth transition from Year 9 into Year 10!

We hope our students, their families/carers and our staff have a restful break over the Term 1 holidays.
