SSV Eureka Intermediate Volleyball
On Monday 24th March BHS entered 2 Volleyball teams (Intermediate Boys, Intermediate Girls) into the SSV Eureka Intermediate Volleyball competition at Daylesford College.
We always appreciate Daylesford College hosting the SSV Eureka Volleyball competitions in conjunction with the Daylesford Volleyball Association.
The Intermediate Girls found themselves in a 7 team Pool Play competition. The BHS were drawn in Pool B and played matches against Beaufort Secondary College (2 sets-41points to 0-27) and Mount Rowan Secondary College (2-42 to 0-19). Daylesford College A Team, Daylesford College B Team, Mount Clear College and Woodman's Hill Secondary College made up Pool A.
2 wins secured the BHS top spot in Pool B and a Semi Final match against Daylesford Secondary College B Team. Both sets were close but the BHS side won both to win the match 2-42 to 0-27 to secure a spot in the Grand Final against the home side Daylesford Secondary College A team. It was obvious that these two teams were the best teams in competition. BHS got off to a great start winning the first set but Daylesford took the second set to force a deciding set. Unfortunately, Daylesford had all the momentum to win the match 2-56 to 1-47 and declared the Eureka Division champions. The BHS side had finished in an agonisingly 2nd place for the competition.
The Intermediate Boys found themselves in a much different situation with only two other teams entered into the competition, the top two teams would qualify for the Grand Final. They played matches against Daylesford Secondary College (1-81 v 3-96) and Beaufort Secondary College (3-25 v 0-49. The team qualified for the Grand Final in a rematch against Daylesford Secondary College. Unfortunately for the team the match went in a very similar direction with the BHS going down 1-81 to 3-93 and like the girls team finishing in 2nd place for the competition.

Greater Western Region Swimming Carnival Overall 4th Place
On Wednesday 26th March the BHS Swimming Squad (22 students) took the long drive to the Horsham Aquatic Centre to contest the SSV Greater Western Region Swimming Carnival. In amazing sunny conditions, the entire team swam amazingly well in each event they were entered into. At the end of the competition BHS scored the 4th most points of the 44 schools who attended the event, we were also the second highest placed public school of the competition behind local rival Phoenix Secondary College.
Special mentions to Swimming Captain Claire Mathison who took home 7 gold medals for the competition and Year 7 student Logan Brundell who also won 7 medals as well (3 gold, 1 silver, 3 bronze)

SSV GWR Senior Volleyball
On Tuesday 1st April BHS qualified its Senior Boys Volleyball team into the SSV Greater Western Region Senior Volleyball competition at the Horsham Basketball Stadium.
The team had an 8am start to make the long drive out to Horsham where the competition was being held.
The Senior Boys found themselves in a 3 team round robin competition with the undefeated team declared the Greater Western Region champions. The team had matches against Horsham College (0 sets to 2 sets) and Brauer College (0 sets to 2 sets).
Unfortunately, the boys didn’t take advantage of several opportunities throughout both matches going down in both games to finish in 3rd place. It was a disappointing result after the team's recent premiership in the BAS Senior Boys Volleyball.

Senior Boys – Jesse Baker, Floyd Brooks, Max Francis, Jacob Hutchinson, Hamish Marshall, Max Thomson, Kale Tuaine, Aiden Wiltsher Coach: Liam Towell
BAS Championships
BAS Golf Championships
On Tuesday 21st March BHS sent 2 students to the annual BAS Golf Championships at the Midlands Golf Club. Due to popular demand from all schools only the 18-hole competition ran this year and only those with 30 or below handicaps qualified for the field. The weather gods put on fantastic weather for great golf to be played.
A BHS student finished in 19th position with a score of 95 strokes (+23) and Jack Robinson (Year 11) finished in 27th position with a score of 109 (+37). Congratulations to both students on their efforts in the competition and the hope is the 9 hole competition will be rescheduled later on in the term.
