Tildesley Team Finishes Third!

Last Wednesday and Thursday, I had the privilege of heading out to Pennant Hills Park to watch our Tildesley team compete for the prestigious Tildesley Shield. This premier tennis event is the highlight of our sporting calendar, and our team dedicates an entire year of training in preparation.

Day 1 saw our players take to the court for singles matches, each demonstrating incredible grit, determination, and tenacity. They pushed deep into the competition, producing some outstanding tennis. The final match of the day, featuring Arabella, began at 5:30 pm after a long wait—and it was well worth it. The day concluded at 6:30 pm with a birthday celebration for Mila, marking a perfect end to an exciting first day.

Day 2 featured doubles matches alongside rounds 5 and 6 of singles. Our doubles teams exceeded all expectations, with every pair making it to round 3! Two pairs advanced to round 4, while our final duo, Emma and Laura, reached round 5—the last round before the quarterfinals. Our singles players, Mila and Arabella, also competed fiercely. Mila played an incredible match against a strong PLC Sydney opponent, narrowly missing out on making round 6 but making her team and herself incredibly proud. Arabella advanced to round 6, just one step from the quarterfinals, before facing the eventual tournament winner in a hard-fought match.

At the end of the tournament, we secured an impressive 3rd place—our best finish in years! Every player showcased exceptional skill and sportsmanship, and we couldn’t be prouder. A massive thank you to Head Coach Amanda Tobin and our dedicated tennis coaches for their invaluable guidance in shaping this team’s success.

Congratulations to all of our Tildesley team members:

Emma Antico, Arabella Bugden, Mila Duchen, Olivia Buchanan, Vivienne Swarbrick, Scarlett Levy, Angela Mao, Laura Janes, Claudia McKee, Phoebe Pearce, Ashleigh Ip, Jaimie Humphrey, Claudia Chisholm, Kalia Finau.

Kambala Swim Team Shines at IGSA Carnival

On Friday, 14 March, our Kambala swim team hit the pool at SOPAC for the IGSA Swim Carnival. With an early start, the girls arrived energised and ready to compete.

It was a fantastic day, with many swimmers achieving personal bests and giving their all for Kambala. Their hard work paid off, as the team jumped up two places from last year, a great achievement!

A huge thank you to Mark Wieland and Lauren Spears for their dedication in selecting and training the team. Your support has been invaluable in helping our swimmers reach their full potential.

Well done to all our competitors, you made Kambala proud!

Water Polo Teams make a Splash!

Exciting news—all three of our Water Polo teams have secured spots in the IGSA Water Polo semi-finals! After a challenging Term 4, it’s fantastic to see our teams thriving this term.

Adding to the excitement, our Senior A team had the incredible opportunity to train with Australian Men’s Water Polo coach, Tim Hamill, on Monday morning. The girls gave it their all in the session, gaining valuable insights from one of the best in the sport. A huge thank you to Tim for generously sharing his time and expertise!

Best of luck to all our teams as they take on their semi-final matches this Saturday—we’re cheering you on!

Kambala Netball Stars Shine at IPSHA Trials

In March, Vicki and I had the pleasure of taking Lexi Coburn, Harper Dunlop, and Sylvia Fowler to Barker for the IPSHA Netball trials. The girls showcased incredible skill, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the intense four-hour trial.

All three players impressed, earning spots in the Possibles and Probables games. A huge congratulations to Lexi Coburn for making the IPSHA Netball team—an incredible achievement and the first Kambala player to do so in many years! Sylvia and Harper came incredibly close to selection and should be immensely proud of their efforts.

Each of these girls represented Kambala with great pride and respect—well done!

Touch Football Grand Finals

Our supporters were out in force at Queens Park for the Eastern Suburbs Touch Grand Finals. Sports Prefects Minty Welsh and Poppy Nuthall had rallied the girls to attend the seven Grand Final matches.

The Senior B team started the finals with a strong win 2-0. It was a great final match for the Year 12 players Scarlett Saunders, Anna Mavrakis, Luisa Morphy and Hilary Guilfoyle. Hilary Guilfoyle was announced as the Best and Fairest Player for the competition and . The Year 10/11 Kambala 3 team won their Grand Final convincingly 7-1 and Kambala 4 won a close contest 3-2. The  Junior A team lost in a very close match 6-5. An amazing effort given the team was ‘rebuilding’ this season with ten new players so each girl can be justifiably proud of her improvement and achievement. The Junior B team The Junior C team were a draw at full time and had to play a 3 on 3 drop off finishing runners up 2-1.

The Senior A team played St Vincents and were unlucky to lose one of the middles due to injury. The girls played an epic final and although they lost by one try they left nothing out there. We had hoped the Year 12 girls would get the fairytale finish but it has been great to see these girls, many of whom started Touch in Year 4 progress to play at the top level. The Year 12 players were Polly Roche, Poppy Nuthall, Anastasia Maurici, Scarlett Aboud, Amelie Kaye, Indiana Pirie, Anoushka Juma-Ross and Zanna Rose.
