Message from the Principal
Dear parents, carers and friends of EEPS,
It was good to see many of you on Monday at the 3 Way Conference Day. Thank you for your attendance and support. I hope that the session was a timely insight into your child’s/ children’s start and progress throughout Term 1.
Our Thoughts
Over the last week there have been two events that have impacted members of the broader Eltham community. On the weekend, there was a vehicle incident in country Victoria, involving recently graduated Eltham High School students, and unfortunately there was a fatality. In addition to this, a prominent Wildcats coach and Junior Development Manager, remains in hospital in critical condition after a car crash last week. The Eltham community is strongly connected and our thoughts are with these families and any EEPS families who are connected to these families.
Grandparents Day
On Friday the 2025 prep students hosted their grandparents and special friends in their classrooms for the morning. It was lovely to see so many happy faces and for the students to sing, read, draw and eat together. The weather was lovely and the crows were also actively participating in the singing! Thank you to the prep teachers for making the morning special and to all our parents who organised and coordinated arrangements for so many grandparents to visit. I know some even came from quite a distance.
Grove Street Traffic and Safety Concerns
I did write directly to all EEPS families earlier in the week requesting your help in improving safety around Grove Street and the front of the school. If you haven’t yet taken a moment to read this please do so - thank you.
Health and Wellbeing
This week all our EEPS staff have completed their CPR and Anaphylaxis updates. A number of key staff have also completed Diabetes and Epilepsy training. Thank you to Chris Hill for planning all the logistics around this for the staff.
Teaching and Learning Plans
Over the last fortnight all the EEPS teaching teams have been busy planning for next term, as well as reflecting and reviewing the progress made in term1. Thank you to our teams for always maintaining such a dedicated lens on improvement and thank you to the students and parents who have been flexible and our replacement teachers who have ensured that the normal programming has continued.
Holiday Works
Over the holiday break we will be refurnishing the OSHC space and installing new glass doors in the OSHC kitchen. We will be also conducting a variety of ‘deep cleans’ throughout the school and hopefully commencing some new landscaping in the second week.
Respect for the School Grounds
With the school holiday break coming can I please ask families, with older high school siblings, who may come onto the school grounds with their friends, to please treat our valued school with respect. This is normally the case, but we have had a couple of instances lately when this hasn’t been the case. We want to be able to continue to have the school open and available during weekends and holiday periods.
Gratitude
As the term comes to an end, I wanted to thank all our community members for a very successful Term 1. It has been a long term, as it is rare to have a 10-week first term. We have a great number of activities throughout the term, both for students, and for staff professional learning, and of course our popular Movie Night. All of these take a lot of effort, on top of the gargantuan effort of keeping our strong focus on teaching and learning in the classrooms. To you all, thank you to the part you have played in a busy
Term 1.
A couple of final reminders:
- School finishes at 2.30 pm on Friday
- Term 2 starts on Tuesday 22nd April.
- ANZAC assembly Thursday 24th April at 9.00 am
- ANZAC Day public holiday - Friday 25th April
Have a lovely holiday break and stay safe.
Kind regards
Warren Lloyd
