Parents' Association

Welcome back to School. I hope everyone had a great break. We have a lot going on over the next few weeks.
The kids have their cross country next friday where the Parents Association will be handing out fruit to refuel the kids after their run.
On the same day we will be collecting baked goods from families to sell at our Election Day Cake Stall and Barbeque.
Every voting day, Syndal South becomes a polling station and the Parents’ Association and School Council take advantage of the large number of community members coming onto school grounds to run a cake stall and a sausage sizzle.
To make the cake stall successful, we would love everyone to make a cake, or some biscuits, slices, jams, or chutneys and bring it to the school for us to sell on voting day. If every family makes one item, we will have a bountiful table of goods for sale, and it will raise a lot of money for the school.
You can bring your homemade goodies to us at the following times:
Friday 2nd May 8.30am – 11am (school office)
Friday 2nd May 2pm-4pm (school office)
Saturday 3rd May before 9.30am (cake stall on the basketball court)
A few things to remember: Only home-made cakes, biscuits and jams … nothing bought from a store.
When deciding what to bake the food needs to be something that will still be nice on Saturday, it needs to be kept for at least a day so it needs to be freshly baked. Nothing that needs to be kept in the fridge. We can’t keep cakes cold so no cream or custard in your cakes please!
Cakes sell well: think Banana, Carrot, Chocolate that stay fresh for longer
Biscuits: Anzacs, chocolate chip cookies, Yo-Yos, shortbread
Slices: Lemon Slice, Hedgehog
Write the date it was made and ingredients on a tag and stick it onto your homemade goodies. We must do this by law and people with allergies will also thank you. The instruction sheets will come home with the plate and plastic bag with your children.
Make it pretty! Wrap it up with clear plastic and a bit of ribbon and make it look great. It will sell faster! (Need some help with this? Drop into the office on Friday and the PA volunteers will help with packaging.) Please register your cake with a volunteer when you drop it off at the office or the cake stall.
Speaking of volunteers … Yes, of course we would like some help with the stalls on voting day and we also need help with the packaging and registration of the goods on the Friday.

There’s always a great atmosphere at the school on voting days. People wait in line for quite awhile, so they really want a sausage or a nice cake at the end of it. Volunteering at these events is a great way to meet other parents at the school, as well as community members. It’s only a couple of hours so please consider doing a shift with us. We would LOVE to see you there!
The Uniform Shop will also be open on the 1st May from 9-11am, and at the same time we will have a morning tea.
