Principals Report

by Helen Freeman, Principal

A very warm ‘Welcome Back’ to all members of the SSPS community. I hope that you all enjoyed some wonderful family time and a restful break.

Easter Hat Parade and Raffle

The Easter Hat Parade on the last day was a fabulous way to celebrate a very successful term at Syndal South. Thank you to all our families who had so kindly donated Easter eggs, chocolates, and Easter giftware for our Easter Raffle. From all the wonderful donations Easter hampers were made by a fabulous group of our very talented mums. Thank you so much. The hampers looked amazing! $1,775 was raised from the Easter raffle which is truly amazing. It was just remarkable to see the effort that had been put in by the students (and parents) to create these amazing hats. It was wonderful also to see so many parents and grandparents at the parade.

ANZAC Day

Today we held our ANZAC Commemorative Assembly. Our student leaders did an amazing job emphasizing the reasons why we commemorate ANZAC Day. They highlighted the fact that we not only remember those who have served in the past and those who made the ultimate sacrifice, but we gather to remember those who continue to serve to defend Australia today. In the classrooms this week ANZAC Day has also been a focus with students completing ANZAC Poppies during their Art lessons.

Upcoming Events

Finally, we have a number of exciting events happening in the next few weeks. Firstly, the School Cross Country next Friday for all students in Years 3 to 6. This is held at school starting at 1.50 pm and parents are welcome to attend. The second event is the Election Day BBQ and Cake Stall which is happening on Saturday 3rd May from 8.00 am to 4 pm, more information regarding how you can help can be found later in this newsletter. Finally, we have our annual Mother’s Day Stall which is on Friday 9th May.

Enjoy the upcoming long weekend and fortnight ahead.
