The SWPBS Classroom Matrix: What Does Designing Our Own Look Like?
The SWPBS Matrix is the behaviour management system we use at Clyde Primary School to encourage students to be Respectful, Responsible and Resilient in our school environment.
In Week 1 of Term 1, classes were asked to revisit the expectations outlined in our whole school matrix in all learning areas and adapt this to create an individualised classroom matrix.
Students co-constructed the matrix with support from their classroom teacher and were given opportunities to share expectations they feel are appropriate to their own class and year level. All class members made a commitment to their classroom teaching during the constructing phase of the matrix to follow expectations added, as well as those expectations listed on our whole school matrix.
When making their class matrix, students of 5A decided to add more of a focus of expectations around the use of ICT and how students need to be respectful and responsible when using devices, both personal and school devices. This was decided upon by students as they identified that laptops are used daily to support learning in Year 5.
